Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 9-3 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

The 30-year-old backstop is on a roll, hitting safely in six straight games and going yard in four straight. The surge has boosted his slash line on the season to a still-rough .203/.279/.377, but he's at least been a viable streaming option in Coors Field, posting a .786 OPS at home with five of his six homers on the year.

Bart exited Friday's game with Triple-A Sacramento in the first inning due to an apparent foot injury, River Cats broadcaster Johnny Doskow reports.

Bart was hit on the foot by a fastball in the first inning Friday, and he was removed from the game. The severity of the injury isn't yet clear, and whether he's forced to miss additional time remains to be seen.

Grandal (calf) won't play Saturday against the Tigers, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Manager Tony La Russa is hopeful that Grandal's injury isn't serious, but the 32-year-old should have at least one day to recover. He's considered day-to-day for now and will be evaluated again Saturday to determine his status going forward. La Russa isn't yet sure whether the team will call someone up to serve as a backup catcher in Grandal's absence, but Seby Zavala could be a candidate to join the major-league roster.

Grandal was removed from Friday's game against the Tigers due to left calf tightness.

Grandal went 1-for-2 with a run, an RBI and a strikeout to begin Friday's contest, but he was replaced by Zack Collins behind the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning. The 32-year-old will be further evaluated to determine the extent of his injury.

Plawecki (hamstring) could be reinstated from the injured list by the end of the team's current road trip, which runs through Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Plawecki has been on the injured list since June 22 due to a left hamstring strain, and he was initially progressing slowly in his recovery. It's not yet clear whether the 30-year-old will require any rehab games before he's activated, but he's been feeling better recently and could be back in action in the coming days.

Nido (wrist) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Nido will return from a minimum stay on the injured list after appearing in one rehab game at Triple-A Syracuse. The 27-year-old will reclaim backup catching duties from Patrick Mazeika, who was optioned to the minors.

Jeffers is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Royals.

Jeffers will take a seat for the second time in three games after recording just one hit in his last 12 at-bats. Ben Rortvedt will catch J.A. Happ and bat eighth.

Smith is not starting Friday's game against the Nationals, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The 26-year-old sits after three consecutive 1-for-3 performances. Smith has hit just .231 in his last 14 games, but he has smashed three homers in that span. Austin Barnes starts at catcher for the second of four games against Washington.

Stallings went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a walk in Thursday's loss against the Brewers.

He drove home Ke'Bryan Hayes with an RBI double in the ninth inning, and he had previously singled in the bottom of the second as well. Stallings is firmly entrenched as the Pirates' starting catcher, and he's been putting up slightly better numbers than he was at the beginning of the year. Stallings is slashing .265/.342/.324 with six RBI over his last 10 games, though his .231 average on the season remains poor compared to what he accomplished in each of his previous two seasons.

Nola (knee) caught a bullpen session and played long toss in addition to doing agility work earlier this week, MLB.com reports.

The backstop remains without a definite timeline for a return, but he appears to be progressing from the left knee sprain that put him on the shelf in late May. In addition to his recent activity, Nola has also been doing blocking drills and taking batting practice. Given his extended absence, he'll almost certainly need to go on a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Padres.
