  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Not starting Friday

Jansen is out of the lineup Friday against the A's.

Jansen will sit for the second straight game after being activated from the injured list and starting behind the plate Tuesday. Jansen, Alejandro Kirk and Reese McGuire all figure to receive time at catcher for the Blue Jays down the stretch.

  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

    Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Starting Friday

Sanchez is starting Friday versus the Orioles.

The catcher sat out of Wednesday's series finale against the Angels but returns to the lineup Friday and will bat ninth. Sanchez homered in his last start Tuesday, ending a 20-game streak without a long ball. Since the All-Star break, he has struggled to a .202 batting average with a 27.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Out of Friday's lineup

Ruiz is not in Friday's lineup against the Mets.

He is hitting .143 with zero extra-base hits, zero walks and two strikeouts in three games since making his debut for the Nationals. Riley Adams will start behind the dish and bat sixth.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

Rockies' Elias Diaz: Not in Friday's lineup

Diaz is out of the lineup Friday against Atlanta.

Diaz went 0-for-3 with a run and a strikeout Thursday and will take a seat for Friday's contest. Dom Nunez will work behind the plate for Colorado.

  • Sean Murphy C | ATL

Athletics' Sean Murphy: Out of Friday's lineup

Murphy is not in Friday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

He is hitting just .196 with two home runs in 56 at-bats since the start of August. Yan Gomes will start behind the dish and hit eighth.

  • Red Sox's Christian Vazquez: On bench Friday

Vazquez is taking a seat in Friday's matchup versus Cleveland, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

The catcher is receiving a routine day off after starting the last four games. Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the plate and batting sixth.

  • Eric Haase C | CHW

Tigers' Eric Haase: Out of Friday's lineup

Haase is not in Friday's lineup against the Reds.

He has cooled off considerably, hitting .200 with one home run and 21 strikeouts over his last 20 games. Dustin Garneau will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

  • Reds' Tucker Barnhart: Takes seat Friday

Barnhart isn't starting Friday's game against the Tigers, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Barnhart has hit .300 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBI in his last 10 games. Tyler Stephenson is catching and batting second Friday.

  • Pirates' Jacob Stallings: On bench Friday

Stallings is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Stallings went 1-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts Thursday night and is now hitting .306 with a double and three RBI in his last 10 games. Michael Perez is catching and batting sixth Friday afternoon.

  • Padres' Luis Campusano: Enjoying strong season in Triple-A

Campusano is slashing .295/.365/.541 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI through 81 games with Triple-A El Paso.

The backstop struggled during his time with the Padres earlier in the campaign, going 3-for-34 with a 28.9 percent strikeout rate. However, he's thrived in his first stint at the Triple-A level and just completed a superb August during which he slashed .373/.458/.765 with six homers and 13 RBI across 15 contests. Campusano was the California League co-MVP in 2019 and remains firmly embedded as one of the organization's top hitting prospects. He's unlikely to make much of an impact at the big-league level this season with Austin Nola and Victor Caratini holding down catcher duties while the Padres fight for a playoff spot, but Campusano could have a future as the team's top backstop.
