Higashioka went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Rays.

Higashioka blasted a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to attempt a comeback, but it would not be enough as the Yankees would lose by two. The home run was Higashioka's eighth of the season in limited time. Although he has an unimpressive .205 batting average, something seems to be clicking for the catcher over his last four games. He has gone 5-for-12 (.417) and raised his average by 12 points during that span.

Diaz went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and seven RBI in a 13-10 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Diaz had his best effort of the season with a two-homer game that netted him seven RBI. He hit a two-run shot of Zach Davies in the second, followed by a walk-off three-run shot to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. Diaz also knocked in runs with a single in the fourth and a double in the seventh. The 31-year-old catcher moves to nine long balls and 47 RBI on the season with the performance. He is slashing .236/.294/.399 in 89 games this season.

Staassi was removed from Friday's game against the Astros for precautionary reasons.

It's unclear exactly what type of injury Stassi is dealing with, but he was unable to go a full nine innings. His status will be updated when more information is available.

Grandal was held out of Friday's lineup with back tightness, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Grandal has not started for a few days, and the injury presumably has something to do with that. He will be available off the bench Friday, so his absence may not extend much further. However, it's not yet clear when he will be ready for a full nine innings.

Gallagher was designated for assignment by the Padres on Friday.

Gallagher swung a hot bat for Triple-A El Paso over the last couple weeks, but that did not prevent the Padres from removing him from the 40-man roster. With 181 big-league games under his belt, Gallagher could be plucked off waivers by a team looking for some help behind the plate.

Nola was placed on the paternity list Friday.

Nola was not included in the lineup for Friday's contest, and the reason for his absence is now known. He can remain on the paternity list for no more than three days, but it's not clear if he will return this weekend or for the upcoming series against the Mariners that begins Tuesday.

Sanchez will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth Friday against the Guardians.

Although Sandy Leon is starting behind the dish Friday, the Twins will keep Sanchez in the lineup as the designated hitter. Sanchez currently holds a .688 OPS this season, but that number jumps up to .799 when he serves as Minnesota's DH.

Wynns was removed from Friday's game against the Cubs in the top of the sixth inning after he was hit in the head by a pitch, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Wynns went 0-for-1 with a strikeout to begin Friday's matchup, but he took a pitch off the helmet while leading off the sixth inning. Joey Bart replaced him behind the dish, and it's not yet clear whether Wynns will be forced to miss additional time.

Grandal isn't in the lineup Friday against the Athletics.

Grandal has lost out on playing time recently, and he'll sit for a third consecutive game after he started five of the White Sox's six matchups to begin the month. Seby Zavala will start behind the dish and bat eighth.
