Padres' Austin Nola: X-rays negative
Nola's underwent X-rays on his left hand Friday that came back negative, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Nola was hit by a pitch on his left hand in the top of the sixth inning Friday, and he's now been diagnosed with a left hand contusion. However, manager Jayce Tingler didn't sound too concerned about the injury and said that the catcher could return to the lineup as soon as Saturday.

Phillies' J.T. Realmuto: Slugs fourth homer
Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 12-2 rout of Atlanta.
The game was already well in hand when Realmuto took Carl Edwards deep in the eighth inning. The All-Star catcher had gone just 3-for-20 over his prior eight games, but on the season Realmuto still boasts a .308/.407/.516 slash line with four homers, two steals, 14 runs and 15 RBI through 30 contests.

Nationals' Yan Gomes: Blasts two-run homer
Gomes went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer and a strikeout in Friday's 11-4 win over the Yankees.
Gomes homered in his first plate appearance but failed to get on base in any of his other at-bats. However, the 33-year-old has been on a tear recently, as he's hit .375 with three home runs, a double, six RBI and four runs in his last six games.

Padres' Austin Nola: Leaves game early
Nola left Friday's game against the Giants in the bottom of the sixth inning due to an apparent left hand injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Nola was hit by a pitch on his left hand in the top of the sixth, and Victor Caratini stepped in behind the dish to begin the bottom half of the inning. Nola missed nearly a month with a broken left finger to begin the season, and it's not yet clear whether he'll miss time after leaving Friday's game.

Omar Narvaez C | HOU
Brewers' Omar Narvaez: Making progress
Narvaez is making progress in his return from a left hamstring strain, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Narvaez landed on the injured list at the start of May and was expected to miss two weeks. He resumed running recently and is expected to start catching over the weekend, so he appears to be roughly on that same schedule. Manny Pina (toe) should return from the injured list within the next two days and will spend a brief time as the team's starting catcher until Narvaez returns.

Mets' James McCann: Drives in one in two-hit day
McCann went 2-for-4 with an RBI walk in a 4-1 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.
McCann had two singles, but his bases-loaded walk is what drove in a run Thursday. The catcher has struggled at the plate, slashing .222/.291/.264 in 79 plate appearances. Multiple Mets bats are underperforming to start the season, and McCann is one that they hope to get going soon. Thursday was just his second multi-hit game.

Marlins' Sandy Leon: Not starting Thursday
Leon isn't starting Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports.
Leon had started each of the last three games and went 1-for-11 with a run and a strikeout. Chad Wallach will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Padres' Victor Caratini: Slugs second homer
Caratini went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh.
The backstop put the Padres on the board with 401-foot blast in the third inning. The homer was Caratini's second this season and accounted for his 12th RBI. He is slashing .217/.313/.333 overall.

Braves' William Contreras: Riding pine Thursday
Contreras isn't starting Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Contreras had started each of the last three games and went 4-for-10 with a home run, three RBI, two walks and three runs during that time. Jeff Mathis will start behind the dish and bat eighth.

Realmuto will not start Thursday against the Brewers.
Realmuto has handled his usual heavy workload behind the plate this season. His 24 starts at catcher rank third among all backstops, and that's even with a brief absence last week due to a sore hand. Andrew Knapp will get the nod Thursday.
