Phillies' Cameron Rupp: Out of lineup Friday

Rupp is not in the lineup Friday against the Nationals, Ryan Lawrence of the Philly Voice reports.

Rupp has started three of the last four games behind the plate for the Phillies and will get a day off for Friday's game. In his place, Carlos Ruiz is slotted at the catcher position, batting fifth. Rupp will likely be back in the lineup for Saturday's matinee game.

  • Marlins' J.T. Realmuto: Produces three hits out of eight-hole Thursday

Realmuto went 3-for-4, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs in a 10-3 blowout of the Twins on Thursday.

The Marlins are shockingly rolling out five .300 hitters in their starting lineup and Realmuto's one of them, as he's up to .306 after this performance. He slotted in as the No. 8 hitter for this interleague game, but has most often been the seventh hitter for Miami this year; those non-premium lineup positions have conspired to limit his counting stats, but Realmuto's excellent contact skills play in any slot.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Activated from 7-day DL

Hedges (hand) was activated off the 7-day disabled list Thursday, Dennis Lin of the Union-Tribune reports.

Hedges returns to the Triple-A El Paso roster after being on the shelf for six weeks due to a broken hamate bone in his hand. Given the length of his downtime, Hedges will likely remain at Triple-A for the foreseeable future while Derek Norris and Christian Bethancourt serve as the regular backstops up at the major league level for the Padres.

  • Pirates' Chris Stewart: Starting at catcher and batting eighth

Stewart is in the lineup, starting at catcher and batting eighth against Colorado on Thursday.

Stewart is filling in for Francisco Cervelli, who is working his way back from a foot injury. The 34-year-old is making his sixth start in the last nine games and looks to make the most of his playing time given Cervelli is likely to reclaim everyday catching duties.

  • Dodgers' Austin Barnes: Starts against Rockies on Wednesday

Barnes is in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

Barnes will be making his first start with the Dodgers since April 10. He will man second base and bat eighth against southpaw Chris Rusin after being recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. In 18 at-bats with the club this season, Barnes has two hits and one RBI.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Out of lineup Wednesday

Grandal is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rockies.

Grandal will not be in the starting lineup for the third time in the last five games, as the Dodgers will go with A.J. Ellis at catcher Wednesday. Both Ellis and Grandal are hitting less than .200 from the plate this season, but Grandal has especially struggled recently, with only 11 hits since the start of May.

  • Padres' Austin Hedges: Progressing in extended spring training

Hedges (hand) played in an extended spring training game and is expected to return to Triple-A El Paso within the week.

Hedges had yet to play in any sort of game situation this season as he is recovering from a broken hamate bone in his hand. The Padres will have no reason to rush him to the majors upon his return to Triple-A, as the big club has three catchers on the roster in Derek Norris, Christian Bethancourt and Hector Sanchez, but if he has a hot start for El Paso, he could find himself in the majors in the second half of the season.

  • Dodgers' Yasmani Grandal: Out of lineup Monday

Grandal is not in the lineup for Monday's matchup with Colorado.

Grandal is just getting a routine day off, as he's started behind the dish the last three games. A.J. Ellis will get the start at catcher and bat eighth Monday. The 27-year-old will likely be back in the lineup Tuesday.

  • Mets' Travis d'Arnaud: Nearing rehab catching

D'Arnaud is still a week away from catching in a rehab game, Marc Craig of Newsday reports.

D'Arnaud isn't expected back until late June and will not rejoin the team without catching some rehab games first. The 27-year-old is hitting .196/.288/.261 with one RBI in 46 games this season.

  • Pirates' Chris Stewart: Plays well in loss

Stewart went 2-for-4 and scored a run in Sunday's loss to the Angels.

Sunday's contest marked Stewart's third straight start while Francisco Cervelli deals with a foot injury. Despite the team losing Sunday's contest, Stewart's performance was mildly relieving to the Pirates, as it put an end to his hitless streak of 13 at-bats. However, with a three-game series against the Mets and their dominant pitching staff on the horizon, it won't be a performance that's easy to replicate.
