  • Yankees' Kyle Higashioka: Returns from Triple-A

Higashioka was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

Higashioka will join the Yankees as the team's third catcher after playing through the playoffs with the RailRiders. The 29-year-old has an .840 OPS in 40 plate appearances while filling in for the Yankees this season.

  • Indians' Roberto Perez: Day off Sunday

Perez is not in the lineup Sunday against the Twins.

Perez has gone 7-for-19 in his last five games. He'll sit in favor of Kevin Plawecki in Sunday's contest.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Sitting Sunday

Collins is not in the lineup Sunday against the Angels.

Collins started four of the last five games, going 2-for-12 with four walks. James McCann will catch Sunday, with Matt Skole serving as the designated hitter.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

Mariners' Omar Narvaez: On base twice in return

Narvaez went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in a loss to the Astros on Saturday.

The game marked Narvaez's first start since last Sunday, as he'd been besieged by back spasms throughout the week. Narvaez was able to serve as the designated hitter Saturday, and he could soon be back behind the dish if he remains free of setbacks.

  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: Returns to lineup

D'Arnaud (neck/shoulder) is back in the lineup Sunday against Toronto, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

D'Arnaud left Thursday's game with neck and shoulder tightness and was on the bench for each of the last two games, though he appeared as a pinch hitter Saturday. He'll feature from the start Sunday, catching and batting sixth.

  • Zack Collins C | CLE

White Sox's Zack Collins: Returns to lineup as catcher

Collins made his fourth start in the last five games and went 0-for-4 in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Angels.

White Sox management is following through on their stated desire to give Collins regular work over the final month. He started at catcher, the first time behind the plate since his most recent callup, on a day when White Sox pitchers threw three wild pitches and issued nine walks. He's expected to get a few more starts behind the plate before the end of the season, and Collins will continue to get opportunities at first base and designated hitter. The 24-year-old is just 2-for-12 since rejoining the parent club and was 2-for-26 during his initial stint in June-July.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

Twins' Mitch Garver: Powers offense with two homers

Garver went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI and a walk in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Indians.

Garver provided an early lead with his first-inning solo shot and then came through again in the seventh with a three-run blast to put the Twins ahead for good. The 28-year-old continued his breakout campaign and has a .275/.364/.634 slash line with 28 home runs and 61 RBI in only 313 plate appearances.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Drives in two

Sanchez went 1-for-2 with a two-run double, two walks and two runs scored in a 5-1 victory over Boston on Saturday.

Serving as the clean-up hitter, Sanchez got the Yankees on the board with a fourth-inningdouble to right field that drove in two. The 26-year-old has delivered 34 homers and 76 RBI and is slashing .237/.320/.542 in 380 at-bats this season.

  • Rays' Travis d'Arnaud: May pinch hit

D'Arnaud (neck/shoulder) could make a pinch-hit appearance Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

D'Arnaud was dinged up behind the plate Thursday and manager Kevin Cash decided the backstop could use an extra day off, though it sounds like d'Arnaud is fine for the most part. While he's cooled down after a red-hot month of July, d'Arnaud still ranks among the top 10 catchers in earned value this season.

  • Austin Nola C | COL

Mariners' Austin Nola: On bench Saturday

Nola is not starting Saturday against Houston, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Even with a two-homer game Thursday, Nola is still hitting just .149/.255/.298 over his last 14 contests. Daniel Vogelbach will start at first base Saturday, with Omar Narvaez serving as the designated hitter.
