  • Max Stassi C | SF

Angels' Max Stassi: Ready to return

Stassi (concussion) has concluded his four-game rehab assignment, the Associated Press reports.

It appears that Stassi is on the verge of a return to the big club, as manager Joe Maddon stated that the backstop is "ready to go." Stassi has been rehabbing with Triple-A Salt Lake after suffering a concussion in early May.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Not starting Tuesday

Grandal is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Cleveland.

Grandal will take a seat for the second time in three games, with Zack Collins slated to catch Dylan Cease in Cleveland.

  • Indians' Austin Hedges: Takes seat in matinee

Hedges isn't in the lineup for Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Hedges has gone 0-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts in his last three games. Rene Rivera will start at catcher and bat eighth.

  • White Sox's Yasmani Grandal: Sitting Game 1

Grandal is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against Cleveland.

The veteran backstop was almost certain to get one of Monday's two games off, so he will rest up during the first half of the twin bill. Zack Collins will catch Carlos Rodon in Game 1, with Grandal likely to be behind the dish for Jimmy Lambert's first major-league start in Game 2.

  • Austin Wynns C | ATH

Orioles' Austin Wynns: Contract selected by Orioles

Wynns' contract was selected by the Orioles on Monday.

Wynns was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk in December but will now be available to make his first appearance in the majors since 2019. The 30-year-old has appeared in 15 minor-league games to begin the year and has slashed .333/.448/.563 with three home runs and nine RBI. He should serve as the backup to Pedro Severino after Chance Sisco was sent down as part of a corresponding move.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Sitting series opener

Sanchez is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Tampa Bay.

Sanchez will sit for the second time in four games. Kyle Higashioka will start behind the plate and bat eighth in the series opener.

  • Rays' Francisco Mejia: Out of lineup once again

Mejia is not in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mike Zunino appears to be manager Kevin Cash's preferred option behind the dish, at least for the time being. Monday will mark the fourth time in the last five games that Mejia is not in the starting nine.

  • Gary Sanchez DH | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Plates run in loss

Sanchez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Sunday's loss to the Tigers.

Sanchez was one of three Yankees that recorded at least two hits Sunday and also plated a run, scoring Aaron Judge with an RBI single in the top of the eighth. Sanchez has been extremely inconsistent at the plate this season but might be turning things around of late, as he has reached base safely in three of his last four contests while posting two multi-hit games in that span.

  • Ben Rortvedt C | NYM

Twins' Ben Rortvedt: Hits first homer

Rortvedt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-3 loss to Kansas City.

Rortvedt gave Minnesota a 2-1 lead with his second-inning solo shot. It was the first home run of the catcher's career. He's hitting .179 with three RBI and two runs scored across 31 plate appearances. Mitch Garver and Willians Astudillo figure to see most of the playing time behind the dish for Minnesota.

  • Indians' Austin Hedges: On bench Game 2

Hedges is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

Hedges went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in the matinee, and it's no surprise he won't start both games of the twin bill. Rene Rivera will start behind the plate in the nightcap.
