    Vazquez was one of two Red Sox batters to record multiple hits in this contest. The catcher also knocked in their first run, plating Trevor Story with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Vazquez has a trio of three-hit efforts in his last five games. He's lifted his slash line to .292/.339/.389 with two home runs, 19 RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles through 124 plate appearances this year.

    Maldonado has continued to feature heavily behind the plate despite the fact that he's hitting just .117/.200/.223 on the year. He'll hit the bench for the second time in three games Saturday, something which hadn't happened since late April, with Jason Castro starting behind the plate.

    Sanchez was removed from Saturday's game against the Royals due to a heat-related illness, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

    Sanchez started behind the dish Saturday and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout prior to being replaced by a pinch hitter in the bottom of the sixth inning. The 29-year-old should be considered day-to-day ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Royals.

    Rangers' Mitch Garver: Dealing with knee soreness

    Garver is out of the lineup Saturday against the Athletics due to left knee soreness, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

    Garver was excluded from the lineup for a second straight game Saturday, and he's apparently dealing with a knee injury. He's considered day-to-day after scans revealed good news, and manager Chris Woodward is optimistic that the 31-year-old will be back in action by Monday, when the Rangers return home to play the Rays.

    Rangers' Mitch Garver: Remains out of lineup

    Garver isn't starting Saturday against the Athletics.

    After going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts Thursday, Garver will be out of the lineup for a second straight game. Andy Ibanez will serve as the designated hitter while Charlie Culberson starts at third base.

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Day off Saturday

    Heim isn't starting Saturday against Oakland.

    Heim started the last four games and went 5-for-15 with a homer, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Sam Huff will take over behind the plate and bat fifth Saturday.

  • Royals' Salvador Perez: Reinstated, starting Saturday

    Perez (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.

    Perez had been on the 10-day injured list since May 17, but he'll return to action after a relatively brief stint on the IL. The 32-year-old will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup Saturday, but he said he's fully healthy and expects to be available behind the dish as early as Sunday.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Takes seat for matinee

    Rutschman isn't starting the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

    Ruschman started in the last six games and hit .200 with a triple, a run, a walk and five strikeouts. He'll get a breather early Saturday while Robinson Chirinos starts behind the dish and bats eighth.
