    Rortvedt has yet to appear in the big leagues this year and has hit .215 with four home runs, 17 RBI and 16 runs over 30 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He should provide depth behind the dish while Jose Trevino is on the paternity list.

    McGuire is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Orioles, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

    McGuire will take a seat for a second straight game Friday. Connor Wong will take over behind the plate and bat ninth versus Baltimore.

    Trevino was placed on the paternity list Friday.

    Trevino wasn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins, and he'll be away from the Yankees for 1-3 days after landing on the paternity list. Kyle Higashioka and Ben Rortvedt will be available behind the plate while Trevino is unavailable.

    Grandal isn't starting Thursday against Oakland.

    Grandal went 1-for-10 with a walk and four strikeouts over his last three games and will head to the bench for a second consecutive matchup. Seby Zavala is starting at catcher and batting eighth.

    Langeliers isn't in the lineup Thursday against the White Sox.

    Langeliers is getting a breather after he started the last seven games and hit .185 with a homer, a double, five RBI and 10 strikeouts. Stephen Vogt will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup.

    Trevino is not listed in Thursday's lineup against the Twins.

    Trevino is in the middle of a 2-for-20 stretch since the end of August and will get the day off Thursday. Kyle Higashioka will take over for him behind the dish and bat eighth in the order.

    Rangers' Sam Huff: Makes second straight start

    Huff went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Houston.

    Huff started a second consecutive game at catcher, as primary backstop Jonah Heim has slumped the last month. After allowing five stolen bases in Tuesday's win over the Astros, Huff was tested just once Wednesday and threw out Christian Vazquez. For the season, Huff has caught just two of 22 attempted stealers.

  • Blue Jays' Alejandro Kirk: Notches three hits Wednesday

    Kirk went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in a 4-1 win against Baltimore on Wednesday.

    Kirk recorded three of Toronto's nine singles in the contest, and his fifth-inning knock resulted in the team's third run. This was the backstop's fourth straight game with an RBI, and he's gone 7-for-10 at the plate over the past two days. The hot stretch has pushed his batting average back over the .300 mark to .302.

    Tigers' Eric Haase: Collects five hits, home run

    Haase went 5-for-5 with two doubles and a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

    Haase was locked in, recording his 13th and 14th doubles and 10th home run of the season. Coming into Wednesday, the most hits he had in a game this year was three, which he recorded back on June 18. The five-hit effort boosted Haase's average from .236 to .250. He should continue to serve as Detroit's primary catcher ahead of Tucker Barnhart.
