Austin Hedges C | CLE
Guardians' Austin Hedges: Gets Wednesday off
Hedges is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
He'll be getting some routine maintenance after catching in each of the past three games while going 2-for-7 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Luke Maile will be behind the plate Wednesday, forming a battery with starting pitcher Cody Morris.

Danny Jansen C | TEX
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Sitting again Wednesday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Jansen is on the bench for the second game in a row and the third time in four contests. Even though George Springer has been seeing more time in center field of late to open up the designated hitter spot for Alejandro Kirk, Jansen hasn't been able to capture anything more than a part-time role at catcher. Jansen could soon see his limited opportunities behind the plate take another hit after Toronto promoted catching prospect Gabriel Moreno from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, though Moreno will likely be up with the Blue Jays for a brief period of time.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Blue Jays' Gabriel Moreno: Back up with Toronto
Moreno was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
Moreno made his major-league debut in mid-June and hit .296 with a double, four RBI and three runs over 18 games with the Blue Jays. The 22-year-old dealt with a thumb issue in early August but has been dominant since returning to the field, slashing .370/.443/.519 with a homer, five doubles, 11 runs, 10 RBI and a steal over his last 13 Triple-A games. While the Blue Jays also have Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk available behind the dish, Moreno remains one of the team's top prospects, and he should have a chance to carve out playing time in the big leagues over the final month of the regular season.

Martin Maldonado C | SD
Astros' Martin Maldonado: Retreats to bench
Maldonado isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Rangers.
Maldonado was back in action over the last two games and went 1-for-5 with an RBI, a walk and a strikeout. Christian Vazquez will take over behind the dish and bat eighth Wednesday.
-
Jonah Heim C | ATH
Rangers' Jonah Heim: Still not starting
Heim isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Astros.
Heim went 0-for-7 with an RBI and two strikeouts over his last two games and will head to the bench for a second consecutive matchup. Sam Huff is starting at catcher and batting seventh.

Reese McGuire C | CHW
Red Sox's Reese McGuire: Not starting Wednesday
McGuire isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
McGuire went 1-for-2 with a run and a walk Tuesday against Tampa Bay but will head to the bench for the third time in the last four games. Connor Wong is starting at catcher and batting ninth.
-
Max Stassi C | SF
Angels' Max Stassi: Riding pine Wednesday
Stassi isn't starting Wednesday against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Stassi started the last two games and went 1-for-6 with an RBI. Matt Thaiss will take over behind the dish and bat eighth Wednesday.

Sean Murphy C | ATL
Athletics' Sean Murphy: Knocks in three Tuesday
Murphy went 1-for-4 with an RBI groundout, a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run in a loss to Atlanta on Tuesday.
The slugging backstop authored a multi-RBI effort for the second time in the last seven games, with his third-inning blast cutting a four-run deficit in half at the time. Murphy's productive night pushed him to new career highs in home runs (18) and RBI (62).

Salvador Perez C | KC
Royals' Salvador Perez: Accounts for lone run in loss
Perez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Guardians.
Perez had one of the Royals' four hits in the contest and the only one that went for extra bases against Cleveland ace Shane Bieber. Over his last eight games, Perez has gone 9-for-29 (.310) with three homers, seven RBI, four runs scored and two doubles. The catcher is up to a .236/.276/.456 slash line with 65 RBI, 40 runs scored, 18 doubles and 20 homers, with the latter figure marking the sixth time in his 11-year career he's reached that milestone.
