  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

    Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Resting Sunday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Dating back to before the All-Star break, Jeffers had started in each of the Twins' last five contests at either catcher or designated hitter, but he'll take a seat Sunday as Minnesota and Milwaukee close their series with a day game. Christian Vazquez will get a turn behind the dish in the finale.

  • White Sox's Chuckie Robinson: First start since 2022

Robinson went 1-for-3 against the Royals on Saturday.

Robinson was recalled to the majors Friday and made his first big-league appearance since 2022 on Saturday. He'll remain the backup to Korey Lee behind the plate but should have a chance to stick in the majors after Martin Maldonado was designated for assignment.

  • Alex Jackson C | MIN

Rays' Alex Jackson: Pops second homer

Jackson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a three-run home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Yankees.

Jackson was in the lineup to give Ben Rortvedt a day off and delivered his second home run of the season. He'll continue to play sparingly as the backup catcher and has just a .361 OPS and .091 average for the campaign.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Could join Astros on Monday

Caratini (hip) will play in rehab games at Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday and Sunday before joining the Astros on Monday in Oakland, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The Astros begin a three-game set against the Athletics on Monday, and Caratini is on track to return from his rehab assignment for the start of the series. The catcher has been recovering from a strained left hip and will have completed five rehab games when he rejoins the big-league club. Cesar Salazar will likely be optioned once Caratini is activated.

  • Jake Rogers C | DET

Tigers' Jake Rogers: Hits grand slam in win

Rogers went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Rogers broke the game open with a grand slam off Trevor Richards in the sixth inning. The long ball was his first since June 29, as he has been sharing catching duties with Carson Kelly. On the year, the 29-year-old is hitting .204 with seven home runs, 20 RBI and 28 runs scored across 199 plate appearances.

  • Jonah Heim C | ATL

    Rangers' Jonah Heim: Breather Saturday

Heim is not in the starting lineup against the Orioles on Saturday.

Heim will get a day off after he went 0-for-4 in Friday's 9-1 loss. Andrew Knizner will take over behind the plate and bat ninth versus Baltimore.

  • Royals' Freddy Fermin: On bench Saturday

Fermin is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the White Sox.

Fermin will head to the bench after he went 1-for-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts in Friday's 7-1 win. Adam Frazier will slot in at designated hitter while Drew Waters enters the lineup in left field and bats seventh versus Chicago.

  • Korey Lee C | CHW

White Sox's Korey Lee: Day off Saturday

Lee is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Royals.

Lee will take a seat after he went 1-for-7 with a solo home run while starting the team's last two games. Chuckie Robinson will draw the start behind the plate and bat ninth against Kansas City.

  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Resting Saturday

Langeliers isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels.

After belting a two-run homer during Friday's blowout victory, Langeliers will give way to Kyle McCann behind the plate.

  • David Fry C | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: On base four times in win

Fry went 3-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 7-0 win over the Padres.

Fry went just 3-for-30 over the first 11 games of July before matching that hit total in the first game back after his appearance in the All-Star Game. He was beginning to lose playing time due to the slump, with utility man Daniel Schneemann picking up most of the slack, but the Guardians' lineup remains fairly flexible with multiple utility players. Fry is slashing .290/.398/.473 with eight home runs, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and four stolen bases over 74 contests, and he'll be out to prove his hot first half was not a fluke.
