  • Gary Sanchez C | MIL

Yankees' Gary Sanchez: Ramping up activity Monday

Sanchez (groin) is expected to hit indoors and ramp up his catching activity Monday, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.

Sanchez will arrive in New York Sunday night, but his bigger workload will wait to begin until Monday. This still leaves his timetable a bit up in the air, though things should become clearer once it's known how his body reacts to the increased activity.

  • Omar Narvaez C | HOU

White Sox's Omar Narvaez: Sits out Sunday

Narvaez is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Indians.

Narvaez started the past two games for the Pale Hose, but failed to record a hit in either contest. As a result, he'll get a day off Sunday, allowing Kevan Smith a turn behind the dish in his place.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Tigers' James McCann: Gets day off Sunday

McCann is not in the lineup Sunday against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

McCann holds just a .208/.274/.325 slash line over the last 30 games, so he'll head to the bench for a day off. Grayson Greiner will fill in for him behind the dish for the series finale with Minnesota.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Joining Blue Jays

Jansen will be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Jansen has slashed .275/.390/.473 with 12 home runs for the Bison this season. Luke Maile and Russell Martin have been splitting time at catcher for the Blue Jays -- with sub-par offensive results -- so it will be interesting to see how the team divides playing time after the call up of the 23-year-old, but he should certainly see fairly regular opportunities.

  • Sandy Leon C | ATL

Red Sox's Sandy Leon: Out of lineup for night game

Leon is on the bench for the second half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Leon went 0-for-3 with a walk in the afternoon game. Dan Butler will make his second start in three games.

  • Yan Gomes C | CHC

Indians' Yan Gomes: Not starting Saturday

Gomes is not in the lineup against the White Sox on Saturday.

Gomes will sit for the second time in three games. Roberto Perez will start in his place.

  • Astros' Martin Maldonado: Out of lineup Saturday

Maldonado is not starting Saturday against Seattle, Christian Boutwell of MLB.com reports.

Maldonado has started seven of 12 games since being shipped to Houston, leaving him as the Astros' primary catcher but not by a large margin. Max Stassi will get the call Saturday.

  • Mitch Garver C | SEA

    Twins' Mitch Garver: Sitting Saturday

Garver is not starting Saturday against the Tigers, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Garver has had the edge in playing time over Bobby Wilson, starting nine of the last 15 games. Wilson will get the call behind the plate Saturday.

  • Rays' Michael Perez: Day off Saturday

Perez is not in Saturday's lineup versus the Blue Jays, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.

Perez will retreat to the bench after going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI during Friday's contest. In his absence, Jesus Sucre will handle the catching duties and bat ninth.

  • Luke Maile C | KC

Blue Jays' Luke Maile: Day off Saturday

Maile is not in the lineup against Tampa Bay on Saturday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Maile will receive a breather after going 1-for-3 during Friday's game. Russell Martin will handle the catching duties and bat seventh in the order.
