Giants third baseman Matt Duffy continues to be a pleasant surprise, as he contributed four hits, an RBI and a run scored in the 8-3 win over the Braves on Tuesday. His biggest hit was an RBI double in the eighth inning to tie the game up 3-3. 

Duffy keeps on rolling at the plate, as he is now batting .381 with three doubles, a homer and seven RBI over his past 10 games.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson got the Blue Jays on the board early, smacking a solo home run in the first inning of Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Twins. Donaldson belted his 28th homer of the season with one out in the first.

It was his only hit of the game, but he has now homered in back-to-back games. He also has recorded five home runs and 12 RBI over his past nine games for the Jays.

The Athletics optioned first baseman Max Muncy to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. Muncy appeared in just one game following his latest recall, going 1 for 3 with a double.

Braves second baseman Jace Peterson filled up the boxscore in Monday's 8-7 win over the Giants. Peterson went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, RBI and two runs scored. Peterson's big blow was a three-run home run in the sixth, to cut the Giants' lead to 6-3. 

It was Peterson's fifth home run of the year. He has now homered in back-to-back games after going 27 games without one. 

Third baseman Josh Donaldson's 27th home run propelled the Blue Jays to a 5-1 win against the Twins on Monday. Donaldson broke open a 1-all tie in the fifth inning with an opposite-field, two-run homer off Ervin Santana.

Donaldson, who also had his 29th double in the game, has homered nine times since July 1. He is also batting .283 (30 for 106) with 10 doubles and 28 RBI in his last 27 games.

The Athletics claimed infielder/outfielder Danny Valencia off waivers from the Blue Jays on Monday. He was designated for assignment Saturday.

Braves second baseman Jace Peterson went 3 for 4 at the plate during Sunday's 6-2 win over the Phillies.

His biggest hit came when Peterson hit a three-run home run off Adam Morgan in the fifth inning. It was his fourth home run of the season.

Prior to Sunday's win, Peterson was hitting .132 with one RBI in his last 11 games.

Struggling Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas is receiving his second straight day off Sunday against Toronto. Ben Zobrist is set to man the position instead.

Moustakas is on a 6-for-41 slide.

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado went 2 for 4 in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Tigers. Machado went deep for his 23rd home run in the seventh inning, giving the O's their sixth and final run of the night.

Machado is batting .275 with a pair of homers over his past 10 games.

Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game, after starting 95 games this season, including the last 14 and 25 of the last 26. 

Max Muncy gets the call at the hot corner for Saturday's game, starting for the first time since June 28 and ninth time this year.
