Bregman has a sore shoulder and is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Bregman was expected to start the nightcap after sitting out Game 1, but he'll instead remain on the bench to nurse the shoulder issue. The 25-year-old sustained the injury Sunday against the Orioles when he was hit by a pitch. The injury doesn't appear to be a serious concern, as manager AJ Hinch hopes Bregman can return to the starting nine Wednesday, according to Jake Kaplan of The Athletic. Aledmys Diaz will remain in the lineup at the hot corner in his absence.

Escobar is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Rockies.

Escobar will receive a day off against right-hander Jeff Hoffman. The 30-year-old has gone just 2-for-24 in the past five games, so hopefully Tuesday's rest day will help him right the ship. Jake Lamb is starting at third base, batting fifth.

Riley (knee) will not require surgery and hopes to begin playing in minor-league games in two weeks, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

This is excellent news, as he met with Dr. James Andrews earlier in the week to get a second opinion on his partially torn LCL, which is typically an ominous sign. It sounds like if everything goes smoothly, Riley will join the big-league roster at some point in September.

Reyes was promoted to Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

The 22-year-old corner infielder has languished at High-A Frederick for four years in a row. He hit .283/.320/.406 with eight home runs in 100 games this year, but his 73:11 K:BB leaves a lot to be desired, and he's still not accessing his plus raw power consistently in games.

Duffy went 4-for-4 with three RBI from a pair of run-scoring singles and also drew a walk in a win over the Padres on Monday.

Duffy's perfect night at the plate pushed his average to .298 and served as his second multi-hit effort over the last three games. The veteran infielder is making good use of his opportunities after enduring another extended battle with nagging injuries, and with Yandy Diaz (foot) projected out for the remainder of the season, Duffy's playing time at third base should be locked in.

Urshela went 6-for-9 with a home run, a double and two RBI while crossing the plate four times in a pair of victories over Baltimore on Monday.

Urshela collected a pair of three-hit games in the doubleheader and has now racked up nine multi-hit performances during his current 15-game on-base streak. He has been on an otherworldly tear in August, slashing .476/.522/1.071 with seven homers, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored in 11 games. Needless to say, the 27-year-old has been one of the most pleasant surprises in baseball this season after hitting only .225 in 466 career at-bats prior to 2019.

Newman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored to help the Pirates to a 10-2 victory over the Angels on Monday.

The 26-year-old checked in with his first long ball since July 6, touching up Jose Suarez with a second-inning solo shot. Newman hasn't provided much power this season (this was just his seventh homer in 329 at-bats) but he's emerged as a solid contributor in other categories, as he's hitting .304 with a respectable .347 on-base percentage, and has also chipped in with 10 stolen bases in 15 attempts.

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and a double in Monday's 6-5 win over Boston.

Ramirez gave Cleveland a 5-1 lead with his three-run homer in the third frame. He's up to 17 on the year with 12 coming since the start of July. The 26-year-old switch-hitter has improved his OPS from .634 to a respectable .767 during that span.

Suarez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Sunday in the Reds' 6-3 loss to the Cubs.

Though teammate Aristides Aquino has attracted more attention in recent days for his feats as a power hitter, Suarez hasn't been too far behind the rookie's pace lately. Suarez -- who will bat third and start at the hot corner Monday against the Nationals -- will head into the series opener with four home runs in his last five games. with 33 long balls in total this season, Suarez is just one behind his career-best output from 2018 and currently ranks tied for fourth in the National League in the category.
