Candelario went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Astros.

Candelario has been locked in lately, as he now has hits in five straight games, with multi-hit performances in each of the last three contests. That's allowed the 27-year-old to bump his batting average up to .326, and while he doesn't offer a ton of power, he's been a consistent performer for the Tigers the past few seasons.

Donaldson (hamstring) was officially activated ahead of Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports. He is batting second and starting at third base.

He worked out on the field in between games and was cleared by the Twins medical staff to return. A healthy Donaldson can still do a lot of damage and he slots right back into a favorable spot in the lineup.

Toro was recalled by the Astros and is starting Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Toro will make his season debut at third base Wednesday, batting seventh. The 24-year-old was recalled after five Astros were placed on the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday, so Toro could see his fair share of playing time in the near future if the team's sidelined starters miss extended time.

The Astros placed Bregman on the injured list Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Bregman was one of five players Houston placed on the IL on Wednesday without an injury designation, indicating that each member of the quintet has been ruled out due to COVID-19-related protocols. No reports have come out yet specifying whether Bregman (or any of the other four Astros) tested positive for the virus, or if the players in question have been ruled out through contact tracing. Aledmys Diaz or Abraham Toro will likely see most of the action at third base while Bregman is sidelined.

Mets manager Luis Rojas said Davis (hand) took batting practice Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

Given that he was able to take full swings just three days after being placed on the injured list, Davis appears on track for a brief absence. The Mets will get by with Luis Guillorme and Jonathan Villar as their primary options at third base while Davis is on the mend.

Hayes (wrist) took swings Tuesday and Wednesday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Hayes has been sidelined since April 4 due to left wrist inflammation, and he's been making progress at the team's alternate training site. The 24-year-old hasn't yet faced live pitching but has been taking swings in the cage against soft toss. The Pirates haven't revealed a timetable for his return, but team sports medicine director Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Hayes will need to continue swinging without soreness before he's cleared for game action. Tomczyk said it was a "safe assumption" that Hayes wouldn't be activated Thursday but didn't rule him out for the team's series in Milwaukee over the weekend, Jake Crouse of MLB.com reports.

Longoria isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Longoria went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs and a strikeout in Tuesday's matchup. However, Tommy La Stella will shift to third base for Wednesday's series finale while Donovan Solano starts at second base.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said he expects Donaldson (hamstring) to be activated ahead of the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Red Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Since Donaldson has recently recovered from a right hamstring strain, the Twins weren't keen on having him play both ends of the twin bill, so the team will wait to activate him until the second game to maintain some extra roster flexibility. Assuming Donaldson is in fact activated following the first game, he should step back into a starting role at third base for the nightcap.

Muncy went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and two RBI in Tuesday's win over Colorado.

Muncy belted a double in the fourth inning to score the Dodgers' sixth run, then capped the scoring with a solo shot to center field in the sixth. He also drew his 10th walk of the campaign, putting him one behind Mike Trout for the MLB lead. Muncy's hot hitting and keen eye has pushed his season stat line to an impressive .400/.543/.686, and he has contributed a pair of homers and seven RBI on the season.

Longoria went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two totals runs scored in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Reds.

Longoria got aboard with a first-inning single and scored on Brandon Crawford's two-run shot. In the sixth, Longoria added a game-tying solo shot of his own. The third baseman is crushing the ball early in 2021 with a .316/.366/.658 slash line, four homers, eight RBI and six runs scored across 41 plate appearances.
