  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Homers, on base three times

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Athletics.

Bregman walked in the first inning, swatted a solo home run in the sixth to give Houston a temporary lead and singled in the ninth to reach base three times for the sixth time in September. The solid performance was a nice rebound for the star third baseman, who'd reached base in only five of his last 22 plate appearances entering play Sunday.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Knocks grand slam

Farmer went 1-for-5 with a grand slam in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Nationals.

Farmer hammered a grand slam off Ryne Harper in the sixth inning to give the Reds a huge 7-1 lead. The 31-year-old utility man has gone 12-for-36 (.333) with two homers and eight RBI over the last nine games. He improved his season OPS to .734 with 16 long balls and 63 RBI.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Tigers' Isaac Paredes: Provides offense Sunday

Paredes went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Royals.

Paredes doubled home a run in the ninth inning against Kansas City closer Scott Barlow, providing all of Detroit's offense on the day. The 22-year-old has only seen 18 games of action at the MLB level this season but may get a longer look down the stretch for the 75-80 Tigers. His two hits Sunday were his first in the majors since July, and his RBI was his first since June.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Back in action

LeMahieu (hip/groin) will return to the lineup for Sunday's game against Boston, leading off and playing third base.

A minor issue in LeMahieu's hip and groin area cost him a start Saturday, but he's ready to go after a brief absence. He hasn't been particularly good at the plate thus far in September, with a lack of extra-base hits limiting him to a .688 OPS despite a solid .278 batting average.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Out with sprained hand

Davis landed on the injured list Sunday with a left hand sprain, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

An injury at this point in the season ends Davis' campaign, as there are just eight days remaining on the schedule. Injuries limited him to just 73 games this year, but he produced when available, finishing the year with a .285/.384/.436 slash line. He only cleared the fence five times, however, and his 32.2 percent strikeout rate and .426 BABIP indicate he's unlikely to sustain a similar batting average going forward unless he starts making more contact. Sean Reid-Foley was activated to take his place on the roster.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Fills stat sheet Saturday

Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-0 win over the White Sox.

His first-inning two-run homer set the tone in a game Cleveland dominated. Ramirez added an RBI single in the sixth, after which he stole second and scored on a Bobby Bradley sacrifice fly. With a .911 OPS, 36 homers, 26 stolen bases, 99 RBI and 107 runs scored, Ramirez has enjoyed a highly productive 2021. He'll bat third as the designated hitter for Sunday's series finale against the Pale Hose.

  • Edmundo Sosa LF | PHI

Cardinals' Edmundo Sosa: Sitting again Sunday

Sosa (wrist) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Sosa continues to recover from the right wrist injury he suffered when hit by a pitch during Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader in Chicago, and it's not a major surprise to see him on the bench again Sunday. The 25-year-old will have Monday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing more time. Paul DeJong will receive another start at shortstop in his absence.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Added to Sunday's lineup

Duffy will start at third base and bat fifth Sunday against the Cardinals.

The 30-year-old was originally scheduled to sit Sunday's series finale, but he'll join the lineup late after Patrick Wisdom was scratched with a wrist issue. Duffy is in the midst of a six-game hit streak in which he is 9-for-21 with four doubles, three walks, an RBI and four runs.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Scratched with wrist soreness

Wisdom was scratched from Sunday's lineup versus the Cardinals due to right wrist soreness.

Wisdom was slated to start at third base but was pulled from the lineup due to the wrist issue. It's unclear if he'll be available off the bench, and he'll have Monday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing additional time. Matt Duffy was set to sit Sunday but will instead start at the hot corner.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Cubs' Matt Duffy: Not in Sunday's lineup

Duffy is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.

Duffy has a six-game hit streak in which he has a 1.119 OPS, but he will head to the bench for Sunday's series finale. David Bote will start will man the keystone in his absence.
