Newman (groin/hamstring) has progressed in his recovery and will be considered for a rehab assignment within the next five days, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old has been participating in all baseball activities without pain for at least a week, and he's now on the cusp of a minor-league rehab assignment. Newman was on the injured list for a month with the groin injury when he suffered a hamstring injury in late May, so he'll likely require at least a handful of games in the minors to get back up to speed.

Rendon (wrist) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

The 32-year-old exited Tuesday's contest after aggravating his right wrist injury, and he'll be held out of the lineup for at least one game. Rendon missed two weeks due to the injury before being activated from the injured list Friday, and the severity of the issue this time around remains unclear.

The Cubs placed Madrigal on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left groin strain, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Madrigal will head to the injured list for the second time this season after previously missing time in May due to back tightness. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 first-year player draft missed the entire second half of the 2021 campaign while recovering from hamstring surgery, so the Cubs have received just 115 plate appearances since he was acquired from the White Sox at last year's trade deadline. While Madrigal is on the shelf, Jonathan Villar looks to be first in line for reps at second base.

Urias (oblique) said Wednesday that his recovery process is "going slow," Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Urias landed on the injured list with a left oblique strain Saturday and hasn't made significant process in his recovery yet. Although his rehab process isn't going as quickly as he had hoped, the 28-year-old said Wednesday that he doesn't expect to be sidelined too long. Tyler Nevin has served as Baltimore's primary third baseman in Urias' absence.

Bride will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game in Boston, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Even though he went hitless in three plate appearances in his MLB debut Tuesday in Oakland's 6-1 loss, Bride will stick in the starting nine against a right-handed pitcher (Josh Winckowski) for the second straight contest. Bride looks like he'll get at least a short-term trial as the Athletics' primary third baseman after journeyman Matt Davidson failed to capitalize on the opportunity upon being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas last week.

Donaldson is starting Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Donaldson served a one-game suspension during Tuesday's series opener against the Rays, but he'll start at the hot corner and bat fifth a day later. Over his last eight games, the 36-year-old has slashed .219/.282/.313 with three doubles, three RBI, a run and a stolen base.

Davis isn't in the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers.

Davis recently drew four consecutive starts and went 6-for-15 with a homer, four runs, a walk and five strikeouts during that time. However, he'll be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game while Eduardo Escobar serves as the designated hitter with Luis Guillorme starting at third base.

Bride, promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, went 0-for-3 in a loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old hit ninth and drew the start at third base. Bride was wielding a red-hot bat with the Aviators prior to the promotion, posting a .392 average and 1.049 OPS across 14 games while drawing starts at catcher and every infield spot except shortstop.

Farmer was scratched from Wednesday's lineup against Arizona for rest purposes, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Farmer was working out prior to Wednesday's matchup but was removed from the lineup approximately an hour before the start of the game. However, the Reds said that he's fine and is simply out of the lineup for rest purposes. It seems likely that he'll be available off the bench during Wednesday's series finale against the Diamondbacks. Matt Reynolds will shift to shortstop and bat third while Albert Almora enters the lineup in left field.

Miranda will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Miranda will draw his fifth start in a row, despite seeing his five-game hitting streak come to an end in Tuesday's 5-0 loss with an 0-for-3, two-strikeout performance. The rookie has indirectly benefited from the Twins missing some lineup regulars in the past couple of weeks, but as long as Jorge Polanco's sore back doesn't force him to the 10-day injured list, Miranda could be moving to a part-time role soon.
