Madrigal left Friday's game against the Giants with right groin tightness, Tony Andracki of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Madrigal missed time with a groin strain earlier in the summer, though that was on his left side. It's unclear if his current injury will force a trip to the injured list. Zach McKinstry replaced him at second base.

Muncy isn't starting Friday against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Muncy is getting a breather after he went 6-for-9 with three home runs, a double, six RBI, five runs and a strikeout over the last two games. Joey Gallo will serve as the designated hitter and bat sixth.

Vargas isn't in the lineup Friday against the Phillies.

Vargas has gone 1-for-11 with a run, an RBI and a strikeout over his last three games and will head to the bench for a second consecutive matchup. Cesar Hernandez is starting at the hot corner and batting fifth.

Peterson is not in Friday's lineup against the Reds.

Peterson will take a seat Friday as the Reds begin the game with lefty-throwing Nick Lodolo on the mound. Mike Brosseau will fill in at third base and bat fifth in the order.

Freeman is not in the lineup Friday against the Twins.

The 23-year-old infielder made four consecutive starts between Saturday and Tuesday in which he went 5-for-17 with an RBI. Freeman will now sit for the second straight game. Amed Rosario will fill in at shortstop Friday and Richie Palacios will assume the designated hitter role, batting seventh.

Reynolds (hip) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Reynolds has been sidelined the past couple weeks by a hip injury and has been cleared to rejoin the active roster after a three-game rehab stint with Triple-A Louisville. The 31-year-old should return to a utility role now that he's healthy.

Jung's contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Jung's activation was expected for several days, and he'll officially start at third base and bat seventh during his major-league debut Friday against the Blue Jays. The 24-year-old has less competition for playing time at the hot corner after Ezequiel Duran was sent down Thursday, and the Rangers' top prospect should have plenty of chances to secure regular at-bats in the majors over the final month of the season.

Maton went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss against the Marlins.

The 25-year-old got the Phillies on the board with a two-out homer in the third inning off Sandy Alcantara. Maton has not seen much action lately, appearing in six of Philadelphia's last eight games but recorded just eight at-bats during that stretch. He has taken advantage of those recent chances however, tallying four hits including a double and a homer for a .750 slugging percentage.

Moncada went 5-for-6 with two homers, a double, three runs scored and five RBI in a 14-2 win Thursday in Oakland.

Moncada homered off JP Sears in his first two plate appearances, singled and scored in the fourth, doubled in a run in the fifth and tacked on a single in the sixth. He had recorded only five hits in his previous eight games but reached that mark in his first five trips to the plate Thursday. It was his second five-hit performance of the season and his first two-homer game since 2019. The 27-year-old came into the game with a .582 OPS and exited with a .624 mark following the excellent evening.

Peterson went 1-for-3 with one run scored and one steal in Thursday's win over the Giants.

Peterson has hit well in his last seven games, recording a .333 average over 18 at-bats. The third baseman is turning in career highs in batting average (.260), slugging percentage (.430), and OPS (.758) during 2022. Interestingly, the 32-year-old is outstanding on the road with an. 899 OPS in 156 plate appearances compared to a .569 OPS in 117 plate appearances at home.
