Cardinals' Patrick Wisdom: Slugs Redbirds to PCL title

Wisdom, who hit a career-high 31 home runs for Triple-A Memphis this season, smacked a go-ahead two-run home run in Sunday's Pacific Coast League championship-clinching 3-1 victory over El Paso, William Boor of MLB.com reports.

The slugging infielder launched a two-run blast off Padres prospect Kyle Lloyd in the fifth, snapping a scoreless tie. Wisdom finished the regular season with a .243/.310/.507 line that included 57 extra-base hits (25 doubles, one triple and 31 homers) and 89 RBI, but he also posted a 29.4 percent strikeout rate that was the second highest of his pro career. The 26-year-old also saw his walk rate drop to a career-low 7.5 percent, so his plate discipline remains a work in progress. Wisdom figures to have ample opportunity to show what he can do in spring training next March.

  • Carlos Asuaje 3B | LAD

Padres' Carlos Asuaje: Gets breather Monday

Asuaje is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Asuaje will head to the bench following five straight starts despite collecting at least one hit in each of those appearances. In his place, Yangervis Solarte will slide over to the keystone and Erick Aybar will start at shortstop.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Out of Sunday lineup

Anderson is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Anderson has been operating as the Marlins' primary third baseman over the past couple of weeks, but he'll be stationed on the bench for the second consecutive day as the Marlins close out their home-away-from-home series against the Brewers. Derek Dietrich will take over at third base and bat sixth in his stead.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Lifts 24th homer in loss to Dodgers

Rendon went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo homer in Saturday's loss to the Dodgers.

After a relatively slow start to the season, Rendon has been lights out, posting an OPS just south of 1.000 since the beginning of May. He entered play Saturday with a top-three fWAR in baseball (best in the National League). He's been resting more lately and that may continue over the final weeks of the regular season, but those in weekly lineup leagues should leave him right where he is.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Pops 34th homer Friday

Arenado went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo homer in Friday's 6-1 win over the Padres.

It's his fourth home run in his last nine games and 34th of the year, and Arenado is streaking towards the finish line with a .347/.475/.653 slash line in September. He's still nine RBI shy of tying last season's career high of 133, but if he stays locked in over the Rockies' final 14 games, he might just be able to get there.

  • Yadiel Rivera 3B | MIL

Brewers' Yadiel Rivera: Designated for assignment

Rivera was designated for assignment by Milwaukee on Friday.

Rivera loses his place on the 40-man roster after earning just one appearance with the Brewers this season. The infielder slashed .218/.282/.314 with five home runs and 43 RBI during 107 games with Triple-A Colorado Springs in 2017.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Nationals' Anthony Rendon: Gets day off Thursday

Rendon is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Braves, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports.

Despite riding a modest five-game hitting streak, Rendon will get the day off as manager Dusty Baker rests his starters ahead of Washington's weekend series against the Dodgers. Adrian Sanchez will draw a start at the hot corner in his stead.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Slugs 25th homer Wednesday

Suarez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a grand slam in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Cardinals.

The blast was his 25th of the year, and it ended an 18-game homer drought for Suarez. The 26-year-old is slashing only .214/.306/.310 in September, but this might be the spark he needed to finish the season on a high note.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Powers Rockies to win

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBI during Monday's win over Arizona.

The homer broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning and paved the way for Colorado's win. Arenado is now up to 33 round trippers, 123 RBI and 90 runs with a .311/.370/.593 slash line, as he further affirms his status as one of the safest bets to build your fantasy team around.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Cracks another long ball Sunday

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.

He tormented the Dodgers' pitching staff the entire series, going 8-for-15 with two homers and seven RBI in the four-game set. The 26-year-old has improved his road splits this season and leads all of baseball with 119 RBI.
