The 29-year-old broke out of his mini-slump with his first three-hit game since June 16, though he has five multi-hit games in his last 12 contests. Rendon is slashing .310/.398/.619 with 18 home runs, 57 RBI, 61 runs and one steal in 294 plate appearances this year.

Braves' Austin Riley: Hits tie-breaking homer

Riley went 2-for-4 with a tie-breaking solo homer in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mets.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Backup with Barnhart out

Farmer will serve as the Reds' No. 2 catcher while Tucker Barnhart is out, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "To his credit, even though he hasn't caught during the season, he's worked very hard to stay on top of his catching skills," manager David Bell said. "[Coach] J.R. [House] has done a good job of keeping him ready."

Farmer hasn't caught in a game so far this season, but he has some big league experience behind the plate. "Extra-inning games, some blowout games I'd catch in the later innings. This is the first time I might be able to start a game at catcher, which is pretty cool," Farmer said. "I sat down with Tucker and Curt [Casali] today, I hadn't done a scouting report all year until today. That's another thing I have to get used to. It's just watching the game more in depth, watching how Curt calls a game and seeing the history of Tucker calling games, that's the biggest thing. And just getting my legs back into shape."

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Out of Saturday's lineup

McMahon is not in Saturday's lineup against the Dodgers.

With lefty Clayton Kershaw on the hill, McMahon will head to the bench. Garrett Hampson starts at second base, hitting sixth.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Launches 11th homer

Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 6-2 win over the Phillies.

His two-run shot off Vince Velasquez in the third inning proved to be the winning hit, giving the Marlins a 3-0 lead at the time. Anderson has put together a strong month of June, slashing .292/.376/.563 with six long balls and 16 RBI in 25 games, and his 11 homers on the year has already tied his total from last season in about half the time (79 games vs. 156).

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Extends hitting streak with homer

Arenado went 4-for-5 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's 13-9 win over the Dodgers.

Arenado made himself the centerpiece of the Rockies' offense Friday, getting them on the board with his homer in the first inning before scoring on an error as part of an eight-run fifth inning. The third baseman finished a triple shy of the cycle, snapping a recent 0-for-12 skid. Arenado has reached 20 homers for the fifth consecutive year and is hitting .321/.384/.584 in the midst of another excellent season.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Giants' Evan Longoria: Splitting time at third base

Longoria is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Diamondbacks, according to Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News.

Longoria will be held out in favor of Pablo Sandoval for the second time in three games. This has been a trend at the hot corner for the Giants of late, as including Friday's contest, both players will have started four times over an eight-game stretch.
