Cubs' Matt Duffy: Batting leadoff Sunday

Duffy is starting at third base and batting first in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Duffy delivered a go-ahead single off the bench Saturday, and he'll be rewarded with a start and leadoff duties in the series finale. The 30-year-old has seen more regular playing time at third with Kris Bryant shifting to the outfield to cover for Ian Happ (ribs). Duffy is slashing .309/.418/.364 through 55 at-bats, so he's making a case for continued playing time even after Happ returns from the injured list.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Reaches base four times in win

Muncy went 2-for-4 with two walks, two RBI and a run scored Saturday in the Dodgers' 14-11 win over the Angels.

Muncy has begun to catch fire at the dish over his last five games, going 5-for-18 with three extra-base hits (two home runs, one double), five RBI, four runs and a 3:7 BB:K. Thanks to a magnificent 23.1 percent walk rate, Muncy has been especially valuable in fantasy leagues that swap out batting average (.223 season mark) for on-base percentage (.420).

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Hits second homer

Segura went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in an 8-7 loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Segura homered in the first before singling in the fifth and seventh. He was ultimately removed as part of a double switch. He's gone 7-for-9 in two games since returning from injury and his .391 average would lead MLB if he qualified.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Four hits in return

Segura went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 12-2 rout of Atlanta.

The veteran infielder had missed the last 15 games with a quad injury, but Segura picked up right where he left off in his return to action as he paced a 16-hit attack by the Phillies. He now sports a .369/.391/.477 slash line through 18 contests on the season with one homer, one steal, seven RBI and nine runs.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

Phillies' Jean Segura: Returns from injured list

Segura (quadriceps) was activated off the 10-day injured list Friday.

Segura missed over two weeks with a strained right quadriceps. He'd gotten off to a hot start prior to the injury, hitting .333/.359/.450 through 17 games. He should return to his regular role at second base, pushing Nick Maton to the bench. Mickey Moniak was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Not starting Friday

Anderson is out of the lineup Friday against the Brewers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Anderson returned from the injured list Tuesday and started the past three games, and he'll head to the bench Friday after going 3-for-10 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and three runs. Jon Berti will take over at third base for the Marlins in the series opener versus Milwaukee.

  • Kevin Newman 3B | LAA

Pirates' Kevin Newman: Out of Friday's lineup

Newman is not in the lineup Friday against the Cubs.

Newman will take a seat after starting the past three games and going 2-for-11 with one walk and one strikeout. Erik Gonzalez will take over at shortstop while Todd Frazier starts at third base Friday.

  • Jean Segura 3B | CLE

    Phillies' Jean Segura: Activation imminent

Segura (quadriceps) will be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Segura has been out for over two weeks due to a right quadriceps strain, but he began a rehab assignment Tuesday. The Phillies haven't indicated which day Segura could be activated, but he could return to the lineup as early as Friday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
