Riley went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 8-1 win over the Marlins.

He took Cole Sulser deep in the seventh inning, one of five Atlanta homers on the night, and Riley extended his personal homer streak to three games. The 25-year-old slugger can be very streaky, but the highs have far outweighed the lows in 2022 and Friday's blast gave Riley a new career high with 34 homers to go along with a career-best .927 OPS. With 29 games left on Atlanta's schedule, he's got a legitimate shot at his first 40-homer campaign.

Escobar went 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Friday's 7-3 win over the Nationals.

The 33-year-old took Josiah Gray deep for a two-run shot in the second inning, giving Escobar his first homer since July 26 and his 13th of the year. While he did miss time with an oblique injury between those long balls, he slashed just .191/.224/.277 during that 18-game power drought. His current hold on the starting spot at third base is only due to the fact Brett Baty (thumb) and Luis Guillorme (groin) are on the injured list.

Rivera went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI during Friday's 2-1 win over the Brewers.

The Diamondbacks were unable to generate much offense during Friday's low-scoring matchup, and Rivera was the only player on the team to record multiple hits. The 26-year-old has settled for a short-side platoon role recently, but he's crossed the plate in eight of his last nine games. Over that stretch, he's hit .294 with a home run, three doubles, nine runs and seven RBI.

Hayes exited Friday's game against the Blue Jays in the top of the sixth inning due to left shoulder discomfort, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Hayes went 0-for-2 with a strikeout to begin Friday's game, but he appeared to sustain a shoulder injury on a diving attempt in the field and was replaced defensively to begin the sixth inning. The 25-year-old is considered day-to-day for now.

Newman will sit Friday against the Blue Jays.

Newman finds himself on the bench for the third time in the last five games. A lack of walks and power has limited him to a modest .707 OPS despite a .281 batting average, though he's hit the ball well over his last five appearances, grabbing eight hits. Rodolfo Castro will be the second baseman Friday.

Riley went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 3-0 win over Colorado on Thursday.

Riley put Atlanta on the board in the fourth inning, smashing a 414-foot solo shot to left field. The long ball was his 33rd of the campaign, tying the career-high mark he established last year. Riley is tied with Paul Goldschmidt for the third-most homers in the majors this season.

Rivera is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers.

The righty-hitting Rivera finds himself on the bench for the Diamondbacks' third straight matchup with a right-handed starter (Brandon Woodruff). Even though he finished August with an excellent .932 OPS in 20 games, Rivera looks like he'll be the odd man out for an everyday role following the promotion of top prospect Corbin Carroll. With Carroll, Alek Thomas and Daulton Varsho expected to compose Arizona's outfield versus right-handed pitching more often than not, Jake McCarthy is expected to poach designated-hitter duties from Rivera.

Escobar will start at third base and bat eighth Thursday against the Dodgers, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Escobar looked on track to fill a utility infield role for the Mets when he was reinstated from the injured list over the weekend, but he's now poised to reclaim the everyday role at third base with rookie Brett Baty expected to miss the rest of the regular season while recovering from right thumb surgery. The Mets added journeyman infielder Deven Marrero from Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday to give the team another option at the hot corner, but in spite of his struggles at the plate this season, Escobar should play regularly against both right- and left-handed pitching. However, Escobar could be in danger of moving into a short-side platoon role once the lefty-hitting Luis Guillorme (oblique) returns from the IL, perhaps as soon as next week.

The Reds transferred Moustakas (calf) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Thursday.

The transaction officially ends Moustakas' season while clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for infield prospect Spencer Steer, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. With Moustakas on the shelf, Donovan Solano should be locked into a full-time role at first base the rest of the way, allowing the Reds to rotate a number of players through the designated hitter spot. Moustakas ends his third season in Cincinnati with a .214/.295/.345 slash line across 285 plate appearances, marking the second straight year he'll finish with an OPS under .700. The 34-year-old is under contract for $18 million in 2023.

Machado went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI on Wednesday against the Giants.

Machado powered the Padres' offense, with the majority of his production coming on a ground-rule double in the fifth inning that drove in a pair. He's now riding a six-game hitting streak, during which he's hit .480 with two homers, nine RBI and six runs scored. For the season, Machado owns a .306/.374/.536 line across 522 plate appearances.
