Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Athletics' Matt Chapman: Smacks seventh homer in loss
Chapman went 2-for-4 with a double, a three-run homer and two runs in Friday's 8-6 loss to the Angels.
The rookie has started August off on an absolute tear, going 6-for-14 with two doubles, a home run and five RBI over his first four games. He's been knocking the cover off the ball overall in the second half, as evidenced by the .410 wOBA, .397 ISO and 39.3 percent hard-contact rate he's tallied over 82 plate appearances he's logged during that span.

Jean Segura 3B | CLE
Mariners' Jean Segura: Ropes first three-bagger of season
Segura went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs in Friday's 5-2 win over the Royals.
Segura ceded the leadoff spot to Ben Gamel yet enjoyed a productive night, notching his first pair of hits in August. The 27-year-old shortstop has come back down to earth somewhat since seeing his average go as high as .355 on July 8, but he still wrapped up July with a seven-game hitting streak and a .300/.339/.400 line.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Astros' J.D. Davis: Batting eighth in big-league debut
Davis will start at third base and bat eighth Saturday against the Blue Jays.
The 24-year-old is getting his first look with the major-league team after slashing .282/.345/.527 with 26 homers in 103 games between Double- and Triple-A to open the season. Alex Bregman has been needed more at shortstop with Carlos Correa (thumb) on the DL, but Marwin Gonzalez has been seeing starts at short as well, so Davis may not play every day right off the bat. Regardless, Davis' right-handed power makes an intriguing pickup in a lot of formats, as he should be a nice fit in Houston where the Crawford Boxes shorten the left-field dimensions.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Astros' J.D. Davis: Called up to big club
Davis is coming up to the majors, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Davis hasn't stopped raking since his promotion to Triple-A Fresno, where he hammered four homers and five doubles en route to a .281/.362/.579 line over 15 games. With Carlos Correa still on the disabled list, look for Davis to get a few starts at third base with Alex Bregman shifting over to cover shortstop.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Indians' Jose Ramirez: Ties MLB lead with 34th double Friday
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with his 34th double of the year, tying for the major-league lead, and a run scored in Friday's win against the Yankees.
A year removed from finishing third with 46 doubles, Ramirez is attempting to top the league in that category this season. He's on pace to hit more than 50 of them, while at the same time chasing 30 home runs and 20 steals. Among AL third baseman, Ramirez leads the group in all three slash categories with his .322/.375/.561 line through 106 games.

Manny Machado 3B | SD
Orioles' Manny Machado: Crushes 19th homer of season Friday
Machado went 2-for-4 with a solo homer Friday against the Tigers.
Machado launched his 19th homer of the campaign to break open a 1-1 tie in the third inning of a game the Orioles would go on to lose. Although his season has been a disappointment for those who drafted him -- this homer was his first since July 7 -- at least he's batting over .300 since the end of June to provide a bit of a silver lining.

Danny Valencia 3B | BAL
Mariners' Danny Valencia: Slugs 12th homer in loss
Valencia went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run, a walk and two runs in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Royals.
Valencia's 12th round tripper of the season had to survive a replay review but was ultimately confirmed. The 32-year-old is off to a hot start in August, hitting .417 over the first three games of the month. The veteran infielder's solo blast also marked the first time he'd gone deep since July 17, and was just his second extra-base hit since that contest.

Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Active in return to Boston
Moncada went 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Thursday's 9-5 loss to the Red Sox.
Moncada was back in the lineup after missing two games due to a right knee contusion, playing against his former team for the first time. The rookie, who batted cleanup for the third time in the last five games, has gone 10 straight at-bats without a hit while striking out six times.

Matt Duffy 3B | TEX
Rays' Matt Duffy: Continues limited in regimen
Duffy (heel) is performing limited baseball activities but doesn't have a timetable for a return to game action, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The shortstop is starting to run out of time to log some games at the major-league level in 2017, as he's still unable to return to the minor-league rehab assignment he had to abandon back in mid-May. Duffy underwent a procedure on June 23 that removed a calcium deposit from his surgically repaired heel, and while that appeared to relieve a great deal of his discomfort, he's apparently not yet comfortable enough to test himself in game conditions.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Stays hot with three hits Thursday
Bregman went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI and two stolen bases Thursday against the Rays.
Bregman has displayed the all-around hitting ability that made him the second overall pick in the 2015 draft of late, with nine extra-base hits, seven RBI and three steals in his past nine games. Most of that production came while batting in the bottom third of the order, but his recent hot streak has moved Bregman up to the two-hole. He's now slashing .274/.352/.464.
