Rays' Matt Duffy: Set to resume rehab

Duffy (hamstring) felt good after running the bases Friday and plans to resume his minor-league rehab assignment Monday at High-A Charlotte, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy was pulled from his minor-league rehab assignment earlier this week as he was unable to move past about 85 percent effort due to the hamstring strain, but he has apparently progressed nicely over the last couple days. It's not currently clear how many rehab games the 28-year-old is expected to require before rejoining the Rays.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Hitting well since return

Walls has gone 4-for-10 with a home run, five RBI and two strikeouts in three games for High-A Charlotte since his return from the injured list.

A quadriceps injury delayed Walls' start to the season, and he only made it through four games upon his return in April before he was right back on the shelf. Thankfully, with the way he's been swinging the bat in recent days, the 22-year-old now seems to be healthy and back to full strength. He projects as a utility infielder long term.

  • Blue Jays' Jordan Groshans: Back in action

Groshans (foot) has gone 2-for-8 with a walk and four strikeouts in two games with Low-A Lansing since his return from the injured list.

Groshans had been on an incredible run before the foot issue cropped up, slashing .342/.429/.507 in his first 19 games with a full-season affiliate, and it shouldn't be long before he's back to punishing Low-A pitching. The bat is clearly advanced for his age (19), and with good athleticism at third base, Groshans already ranks among the team's top prospects behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Pinch hits in win

Urshela made a pinch-hit appearance in the Yankees' 3-1 win over the Mariners on Thursday, delivering a two-run single.

Urshela was held out of the starting lineup after exiting with a knee contusion Wednesday, but he came through when needed. He's expected to be able to start Friday, per ESPN.com's Coley Harvey. The third baseman should be good to go moving forward.

    Yankees' Gio Urshela: Out Thursday

Urshela (knee contusion) is not in the lineup Thursday against the Mariners.

Urshela left Thursday's game after fouling a ball off his knee, and although X-rays came back negative, he'll get at least one day off to rest. Miguel Andujar will start at third base for this contest against Seattle. According to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com, Urshela will be available off the bench Thursday if needed, suggesting the issue isn't anything that will keep him sidelined for an extended period.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Walks off White Sox

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a walkoff two-run homer in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

The home run was only Ramirez's third of the season as he has yet to fully break out from his spring slump. The 26-year-old has a .205/.298/.318 slash line and nine stolen bases over 132 at-bats for the season, though he is 10-for-34 (.294 average) over the last nine games.

Yankees' Gio Urshela: X-rays negative on knee

Urshela left Wednesday's game against the Mariners with a left knee contusion, but X-rays came back negative, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The third baseman was forced from the contest in the seventh inning after fouling a ball off his knee, but X-rays came back negative, per Hoch, so he looks to have avoided a serious injury. It's possible he could need a day or two to recover, in which case Miguel Andujar would figure to slide in at the hot corner.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Rehab put on pause

Duffy (hamstring) said the team has decided to "press the pause button" on his rehab assignment, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Duffy appeared in just two games for High-A Charlotte before temporarily shutting things down. The third baseman said his hamstring feels good up to about 85 perfect effort, but he has trouble ramping things up beyond that. The hope is that Duffy will be ready to resume his rehab later in the week.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Could return Wednesday

Astudillo (hamstring) worked out Tuesday and could be activated from the IL before Wednesday's game or Friday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

With Jason Castro sitting out with a sore right elbow, the Twins may be motivated to get another catcher on the active roster. Astudillo may not be sent out on a rehab assignment as a result.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Slugs 10th homer

Bregman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 12-2 loss to the Royals.

His sixth-inning shot off Danny Duffy put the Astros on the board, but they were already in an 8-0 hole by then. Bregman is now slashing .283/.401/.575 through 34 games with 10 homers and 24 RBI, and the 25-year-old is actually ahead of last year's breakout pace.
