Yankees' Gio Urshela: Exits with apparent injury

Urshela left Wednesday's game against the Mariners with an apparent injury, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The nature of the injury is unclear. Didi Gregorius entered the game at shortstop with DJ LeMahieu sliding over to third base and Tyler Wade moving to second base. The Yankees have an off day Thursday.

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Registers another multi-hit game

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's win over Seattle.

LeMahieu has collected exactly two hits in four of his last five games and has notched multiple base knocks 13 times in August. That gives him 53 multi-hit games on the season, tied for the major-league lead. He also ranks second in baseball with a .333 batting average while swatting 22 homers and driving in 87 runs in his initial campaign with the Yankees.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Stuck on bench

Peterson remains on the bench Tuesday against the Nationals, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

Peterson sits for the fourth time in six games. Anthony Santander starts in left field in his absence.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Could return during playoffs

Ramirez (hand) could return at some point during the playoffs, should Cleveland qualify, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Ramirez underwent surgery on his fractured right hand Monday. He's expected to require five-to-seven weeks to recover. The early end of that timeline would have him returning just after the regular season ends, so he won't be of any more help to fantasy owners this season, but he could still help Cleveland if the team is able to win a playoff spot without him.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Blasts 30th home run

Chapman went 2-for-5 with with a solo home run, a double and two RBI in the Athletics' 19-4 win on Monday.

Chapman knocked in a run on a double in the fifth inning and homered in the seventh inning. The home run traveled a projected 447 feet and gives Chapman 30 homers, making him just the third A's third baseman in history to hit 30 home runs. Since Aug. 9, Chapman is hitting .311/.373/.705 with six home runs and 10 RBI.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Hits leadoff homer in win

LeMahieu went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.

LeMahieu drove a curveball over the center field wall leading off the game, his first home run in 62 career at-bats against Clayton Kershaw. He also singled and scored in the eighth inning, raising his season average to .331. After seven years in the rarefied air of Colorado, the 31-year-old is enjoying perhaps his finest campaign in his first season with the Yankees, having already set career highs in homers (22) and RBI (87).

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: On multi-week heater

Chapman, who went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a loss to the Giants on Saturday, is hitting .321 (17-for-53) with five doubles, five home runs, eight RBI, two walks and 11 runs across the last 13 games overall.

Chapman has coaxed his average back up eight points to .260 with his current hot streak, one during which he's already exceeded his extra-base hit tally for all of July. The Gold Glove third baseman already boasts career highs in home runs (29) and RBI (72), while his current .526 slugging percentage also qualifies as a personal best.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Orioles' Jace Peterson: Sitting again versus lefty

Peterson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

The switch-hitting Stevie Wilkerson will pick up a start in the outfield while the lefty-hitting Peterson heads to the bench with southpaw Jalen Beeks slated to work as Tampa Bay's primary pitcher in the series finale. Expect Peterson and WIlkerson to continue to work in a loose platoon in the outfield for the foreseeable future, unless the Orioles promote Austin Hays and/or Ryan Mountcastle from Triple-A Norfolk in September.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Moves to bench Sunday

Duffy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After drawing five consecutive starts at the hot corner, Duffy will cede the position to Joey Wendle in the series finale. With Duffy batting .080 over his last eight games and Wendle offering a left-handed alternative at third base now that he's healthy again, it's possible that Duffy transitions into more of a part-time role heading into the final month of the season.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Surgery on tap

Ramirez, who was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, will undergo surgery Monday in New York to repair his fractured right hand, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

The Indians won't have an update on a projected timeline for Ramirez's return until after the procedure is completed, but the 26-year-old looks at major risk of missing the remainder of the regular season. Cleveland called up Yu Chang from Triple-A Columbus to shore up the club's depth in the infield, but utility man Mike Freeman is the leading candidate to see most of the action at third base while Ramirez is sidelined. The team could also scour the waiver market for potential solutions at the hot corner.
