Devers is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

As a young player who's ostensibly healthy, Devers' absence from the lineup for what appears to be a rest day is somewhat surprising, but manager Alex Cora may just want the 24-year-old to hit the reset button. After a poor spring in which he produced a .691 OPS over 52 at-bats, Devers went 0-for-6 in the first two games of the series with Baltimore. Marwin Gonzalez checks in for Devers at third base Sunday.

Candelario went 3-for-4 with one double, two runs and one RBI during Saturday's 5-2 win over Cleveland.

The 27-year-old was 1-for-4 with three strikeouts Opening Day, but he had zero strikeouts while powering Detroit's offense Saturday. Candelario had a .297/.369/.503 slash line in 206 plate appearances last season and is off to a strong start in 2021.

Donaldson (hamstring) will hit and work out Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Donaldson landed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring Saturday, but it looks as though he may not be in line for a long-term absence. He went through exercises Friday without pain, so this appears to be a case of the Twins being extra cautious with the oft-injured veteran.

Madrigal will sit Saturday against the Angels.

Madrigal started the first two games of the season at second base, going 2-for-8 while getting caught stealing in his only attempt to run. Leury Garcia takes over at the keystone in his absence.

Donaldson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a mild right hamstring strain Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Injuries are part of the package with Donaldson at this stage of his career, though those who drafted him this season likely hoped to get more than one inning out of him before his first trip to the injured list. There are some positives here, as the issue was described as "mild" and at least isn't yet another calf problem, but it's hard to be too optimistic given the veteran's recent track record. He's missed over a third of his team's games dating back to the start of the 2017 season. Brent Rooker was recalled to take his place on the roster.

Donaldson (hamstring) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Brewers.

Donaldson lasted just a single inning this season before suffering his first injury of the campaign, though it was at least a hamstring issue rather than yet another problem with his calves, which have been a persistent issue over the last several years. The Twins are expected to provide an update on his status sometime Saturday. Luis Arraez will start at third base in his absence.

Bregman is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against Oakland, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Bregman started the first two games of the year and was excellent, going 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk in each game. He doesn't seem to be dealing with any specific injury, but he battled a hamstring issue for a large part of camp, so the Astros may not want him to play three games in a row right away.

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a second run scored in Friday's 9-5 win over the Athletics.

Bregman's had nearly identical lines over the first two games of the season, including homers in each. He's slotted at third in the batting order and drove in the two players before him, Jose Altuve and Michael Brantley, when he homered. Both Altuve and Brantley have a track record of getting on base, so Bregman should have plenty of chances with men on base or in scoring position.

The Twins will update the status of Donaldson's hamstring Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The club is apparently very relieved that Donaldson's injury was to his hamstring and not his calf. He was reevaluated Friday but the club won't provide a public diagnosis until Saturday.

Bregman went 2-for-4 with a solo homer while knocking in two and scoring twice in Thursday's victory over the Athletics.

Bregman followed up Michael Brantley's homer in the eighth inning with one of his own. With the game's outcome not in question in the following frame, he was pulled for a pinch runner after getting into scoring position -- likely in deference to the sore hamstring that plagued him during spring training. Robel Garcia ran for him and ended up scoring a run that could have been Bregman's. Bregman is coming off arguably his worst MLB season, as he hit a modest .242/.350/.451 -- well off his career line of .283/.382/.523 -- but he's still just 27 and there's no reason to think he can't bounce back. Opening Day certainly offered up some optimism in that regard.
