  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Astros' Abraham Toro: Blasts fifth homer

Toro went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Toro cranked a two-run blast in the fifth inning off Dennis Santana. It ended up being the difference maker to win the game. Despite the home run Sunday, he has struggled in July batting .175 in 57 at-bats. On the season, he is slashing .208/.280/.358 with five long balls, 19 RBI, 16 runs and three steals in 118 plate appearances.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: On base twice in return

Urshela (illness) went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Red Sox.

Urshela had been out of the lineup since July 16 due to a positive test for COVID-19. He was reasonably productive in his return to the lineup, putting the Yankees ahead 2-0 with his fourth-inning RBI single. The third baseman is slashing .275/.318/.440 with 11 home runs, 39 RBI, 30 runs scored and a stolen base through 318 plate appearances.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: Sits in third straight

Burger remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

The lack of the designated hitter being available for the three-game series in Milwaukee has hurt Burger, who will go without a start on the weekend. The rookie should slot back into at least a part-time role during the upcoming week, when the White Sox kick off a seven-game slate versus a pair of American League opponents (Kansas City and Cleveland).

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Beginning rehab assignment

Bregman (quadriceps) will report to Triple-A Sugar Land to begin a rehab assignment Monday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman isn't expected to return during Houston's 10-day road trip, which begins Monday, but the rehab assignment indicates his activation is on the horizon. The 27-year-old could be back for the Aug. 5 matchup with the Twins if the rehab stint goes smoothly.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Takes seat Sunday

Urias is not in the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.

Urias started the past 20 games after Freddy Galvis landed on the injured list in late June, and he'll receive a well-deserved day off Sunday. Urias has performed well as the fill-in shortstop, hitting .299/.349/.416 with two homers, 12 RBI and eight runs. Pat Valaika will shift to shortstop while Domingo Leyba starts at the keystone.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Back in action Sunday

Urshela (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list and is starting at third base Sunday against the Red Sox, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Urshela has been sidelined since July 16 after testing positive for the virus, but he's cleared the necessary protocols and will rejoin the lineup Sunday. The 29-year-old will reclaim his starting role at third base now that he's back with the team.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Indians' Jose Ramirez: Out of Sunday's lineup

Ramirez is not in the lineup Sunday against the Rays.

Ramirez started the past three games after missing a couple contests while managing elbow soreness, and he'll receive the day off Sunday. It's not a surprise to see the 28-year-old back on the bench, as manager Terry Francona indicated the third baseman is expected to require more maintenance days during the second half to help deal with the issue. Ernie Clement will cover the hot corner in the series finale.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Swats seventh homer

Candelario went 1-for-3 with two walks and a three-run home run in Saturday's 9-8 loss to the Royals.

He took Carlos Hernandez deep in the third inning, helping stake the Tigers to a 5-0 lead that Casey Mize and the bullpen couldn't make stick. Candelario hasn't had the breakout some people anticipated after his strong 2020 performance, but he may be finding that form again -- he's hit safely in seven straight games, batting .375 (9-for-24) with two of his seven homers on the year.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Unlikely to return during road trip

Bregman (quadriceps) is unlikely to return during the Astros' upcoming road trip, with runs from July 26 through Aug. 4, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman hasn't played since mid-June while he deals with a strained left quadriceps. The given timeline means he's still nearly two weeks away from returning to the active roster. He may need a small handful of rehab games before he's cleared to return given the length of his absence.

  • Taylor Walls SS | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Optioned to minors

The Rays optioned Walls to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

The rookie has contributed little offensively of late, going 1-for-15 with a pair of walks since the All-Star break. With a bullpen game Saturday, Tampa Bay needed additional pitching depth, getting it by recalling Sean Poppen in a corresponding move. Walls' stellar defense should have him back with the big club sooner rather than later.
