  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Plays first base Saturday

Jung (shoulder) started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run for the Rangers' affiliate in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.

That's two consecutive games with a home run for Jung. After undergoing shoulder surgery in February, he is rehabbing in the ACL and is beginning to play the field. After serving as a DH-only to start his rehab, Jung has made four starts in the field (three at 3B and one at 1B).

  • Jose Miranda 3B | MIN

Twins' Jose Miranda: Goes yard in win

Miranda went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Saturday's 7-3 win over the Blue Jays.

In his last 12 games, Miranda has gone 17-for-44 (.386) with five extra-base hits and 14 RBI. The 24-year-old is seeing most of his time at the corner infield spots lately as he continues to force his way into the lineup. The recent surge has him up to a .277/.325/.477 slash line with 11 homers, 46 RBI, 28 runs scored, 14 doubles and a stolen base through 70 contests.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Optioned to Triple-A

Toro was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday.

Toro has appeared in 84 games this season for the Mariners, but he hit just .180, and the team decided to send him to Tacoma to open up a roster spot for Mitch Haniger. Toro figures to be among the top candidates next time the Mariners need to bring up a hitter from the minors.

  • Taylor Walls 3B | TB

Rays' Taylor Walls: Reaches base four times

Walls went 1-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored Friday against the Tigers.

Walls has started 11 of 14 games since the All-Star break, though Friday's effort marked only the third time he's reached base multiple times in that span. While he's maintained only a .139 average across those 11 starts, he's managed to score seven runs thanks to an 18.2 percent walk rate. Overall, Walls has a .548 OPS across 312 plate appearances this season, but he has been the regular starting shortstop since Wander Franco (wrist) was sidelined.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Plays nine innings in field

Jung (shoulder) started at third base and went 1-for-3 with two walks and a two-run home run for the ACL Rangers on Friday.

Jung has been rehabbing in the ACL but had served as DH only until a few days ago. This was his third start at third base and first in which he's played a full nine-inning game. The Rangers had previously thought Jung playing the field was off the table for the rest of the season, according to Levi Weaver of The Athletic, so this is an encouraging development for the prospect.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Clubs solo shot

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Twins.

Chapman began the Blue Jays' comeback push with his fifth-inning blast. While he ended July hot, the third baseman had gone 0-for-11 to begin August before snapping the skid Friday. He's up to 21 homers, 58 RBI, 57 runs scored, a stolen base, 18 doubles and a .241/.320/.473 slash line through 100 games.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Twins' Gio Urshela: Out of Friday's lineup

Urshela is not in Friday's lineup against the Blue Jays.

Urshela is slashing .271/.286/.492 with three home runs in 18 games since the start of July. Jose Miranda is starting at third base while Tim Beckham starts at first base.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Athletics' Jonah Bride: On base thrice in win

Bride went 1-for-2 with two walks in a win over the Angels on Thursday.

The rookie has now hit safely in four of the six starts he's drawn coming out of the All-Star break, although all five knocks he's garnered during that period have been singles. Bride has gotten aboard in eight of 25 plate appearances during that stretch, however, an encouraging sample that may indicate he's starting to get a better grasp of big-league arms.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Playing third base

Jung (shoulder) will play third base for the next six-to-10 days with the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate before joining a minor-league affiliate, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Jung has been playing in the Arizona Complex League since July 27, though he had been limited to duties as designated hitter. That he'll be able to field his position is a positive sign in his recovery, as he was not originally expected to be able to do so for any portion of the 2022 season. Jung is projected to join Triple-A Round Rock once activated from the injured list.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Big boost in situational hitting

Suarez, who slugged a three-run home run in four plate appearances during Wednesday's win over the Yankees, is now hitting .282 with men on base in 2022.

The solid figure is especially notable for Suarez, whose two final seasons in Cincinnati saw him hit just .218 (2020) and .167 (2021) with runners aboard. The significant uptick in timely hitting, which has included the veteran belting 11 of his 18 homers with men on base, has already led to a solid 57 RBI across Suarez's first 105 games in a Mariners uniform, giving him a realistic chance of posting his best total in that category since a 103-RBI tally back in 2019.
