  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Sitting amid struggles

Garcia is not in the lineup Friday against the Astros.

Garcia has been useful in fantasy at times this season, but he is slashing just .212/.281/.294 over his last 96 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 17. Nick Loftin will start at third base for the Royals on Friday as left fielder MJ Melendez takes a turn in the leadoff spot.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Smacks homer Thursday

Henderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.

The blast extended Henderson's hitting streak to seven games. In that span, he's gone 12-for-32 with three homers and six RBI. He's lifted four homers in September and 26 for the year while slashing .259/.330/.500 over 135 contests. The rookie infielder has added 76 RBI, 89 runs scored, nine stolen bases, 26 doubles and eight triples, and he's been one of the Orioles' most consistent hitters in the second half.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Belts 13th long ball

Lewis went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and a walk in a 10-2 win against the White Sox on Thursday.

Lewis gave the Twins a 2-0 lead with a fourth-inning solo shot and added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the ninth. The rookie has just two hits in 15 at-bats over his past four games, but both have left the park, and he's racked up five RBI during that span. Lewis is slashing an impressive .300/.355/.530 with 13 homers, 46 RBI, 32 runs and five thefts over 217 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Racks up three hits in nightcap

LeMahieu went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBI in the second game of a doubleheader against Boston on Thursday.

LeMahieu sat out the early contest before slotting in at the top of New York's order for the nightcap. The veteran helped the Yankees earn a split of the doubleheader with a three-hit performance that included an RBI single in the second inning and run-scoring double in the eighth. LeMahieu's three hits were more than he had tallied over the previous week combined -- he had gone 2-for-19 over his last five games heading into Thursday.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Hits first homer of season

Peraza went 4-for-9 with a double, a home run, two runs and two RBI across both games of a doubleheader against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Peraza notched two of New York's six hits in the matinee, though neither helped the team avoid a shutout. The infielder made more noise in the nightcap, coming home after a second-inning double and adding a two-run homer in the ninth that gave the Yankees some much-needed cushion. Peraza is in the midst of a modest seven-game hitting streak, during which he is slashing .379/.379/.586 with four extra-base hits, three runs and four RBI.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Enjoys big day in doubleheader

Devers went 4-for-6 with two walks, a solo home run and two total runs across both games of a twin bill Thursday against the Yankees.

Devers reached base twice in the matinee and followed by going 3-for-3 with a walk in the nightcap. In the second contest, he slammed a solo homer to right field in the third inning for his 31st long ball of the campaign. Devers has reached base safely in six consecutive contests, going 10-for-20 with two homers, four RBI, seven runs and four walks over that span.

  • Josh Jung 3B | TEX

Rangers' Josh Jung: Could be activated Monday

Manager Bruce Bochy said Thursday that Jung (thumb) could be activated from the injured list ahead of Monday's series opener against the Red Sox, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

There was some hope that Jung would be ready to return for the Rangers' three-game weekend series in Cleveland, but he still has a couple of small hurdles to clear in his recovery from Aug. 9 surgery to repair a fracture in his left thumb. Josh Smith and Jonathan Ornelas have been sharing time at third base for Texas over the last week.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Returns from IL

The Blue Jays reinstated Chapman (finger) from the 10-day injured list Thursday.

A sprained finger forced Chapman onto the injured list Aug. 28, and he'll now return as Toronto's everyday third baseman after making significant progress in his recovery across the past few days. The 30-year-old was in a considerable slump at the plate before getting injured, slashing .197/.256/.276 since the beginning of August. Nathan Lukes was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.

  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Sitting out first game

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader in Boston.

He had been slated to sit out Wednesday's contest before it was rained out and will remain on the bench for the rescheduled game as Jake Bauers plays first base. LeMahieu is likely to start the nightcap.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Another two hits in loss

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Giants.

Ramirez wasted no time in getting the Guardians on the board, launching a two-run shot off Kyle Harrison in the first inning to score Steven Kwan. The third baseman also added a double and has now recorded at least two hits in back-to-back games and in five of his last seven. He's batting .288 in September with two homers, two steals, four RBI and four runs scored.
