White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Mashes solo homer

Moncada went 1-for-2 with a solo homer and a second run scored in Thursday's 3-1 victory over the Diamondbacks.

Moncada drew a leadoff walk in his first plate appearance before coming around to score on an Andrew Vaughn home run that put the White Sox up 2-0. The third baseman would then add an insurance run with a leadoff shot to open the bottom of the fourth, giving him five long balls this month to go along with 11 RBI. Moncada's hit safely in six of his last eight games, though he's also struck out at least one time in 12 straight.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Blue Jays' Matt Chapman: Breaks home run drought

Chapman went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Thursday's victory over the Yankees.

Chapman went yard off Luke Weaver in the fourth inning for his 16th long ball of 2023. However, the homer was Chapman's first since Aug. 4, though he missed two weeks due to injury. The third baseman has struggled down the stretch, going 12-for-82 (.146) with five runs scored and four RBI across his last 23 games.

  • Oswald Peraza 3B | LAA

Yankees' Oswald Peraza: Sits down Thursday

Peraza isn't in the Yankees' lineup Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Peraza will sit out the series finale after being held hitless through the first two games against Toronto. Oswaldo Cabrera will instead start at third base and bat sixth.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Sitting out Thursday

Garcia is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Detroit.

Garcia started each of the first two games of the series but will get a break for the finale. Nick Loftin will fill in at third base and MJ Melendez has been elevated to the leadoff spot.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Busy night on basepaths

Suarez went 1-for-2 with a two-run single and three walks in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

Suarez was a consummate thorn in the side of Astros pitching all night after going hitless over his previous two games. The veteran slugger is mired in an 11-game homerless streak, but he's carrying a double-digit walk rate (10.3 percent) for the sixth time in the last seven seasons, while his 94 RBI are his most since 2019 and second on the Mariners behind Julio Rodriguez.

  • Jordan Diaz 3B | ATH

Athletics' Jordan Diaz: Sitting out Thursday

Diaz is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest in Minnesota.

Diaz started the first two games of the series but will begin Thursday's afternoon tilt on the bench. He'll yield to Aledmys Diaz at third base.

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Productive in win

Freeman went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Reds.

Freeman got the Guardians on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the second to score Ramon Laureano and later came around to score the team's second run after stealing second. It was only the third baseman's seventh hit this month, where he's now batting .200 with six RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Plays simulated game

Lewis (hamstring) played in a simulated game Wednesday at Target Field, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

He even hit a homer, per Park. Lewis has made a swift recovery from the mild left hamstring strain he suffered last Tuesday and could be activated from the injured list when first eligible this Sunday, the final day of the regular season. The 24-year-old is a key potential run producer for the Twins as they head into the playoffs.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Rare day off Wednesday

Devers is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Rays, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Devers has been scuffling lately with just two hits over his last 21 at-bats, so he'll receive a rare day off to clear his head. Bobby Dalbec is getting a start at third base for Boston on Wednesday.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Adds steal in loss

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Reds.
