Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: On bench Saturday
Farmer is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.
Farmer got the start at second base for the season opener Thursday and finished 0-for-3 with one walk and two strikeouts. With the Royals starting right-hander Seth Lugo on Saturday, Edouard Julien will draw the start at second base. However, Farmer may see most of his action at third base with Royce Lewis out a month or more with a quad injury. Willi Castro and Farmer are likely to platoon at third base in his absence.

Abraham Toro 1B | BOS
Athletics' Abraham Toro: Out of Saturday's lineup
Toro is not in the Athletics' lineup for Saturday's game against the Guardians.
Toro made his season debut Friday as the designated hitter. He was fifth in the batting order and finished the game 0-for-4. Brent Rooker, who started in the season opener Thursday, will return to the lineup Saturday at DH and will bat in the cleanup spot.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Facing extended absence
Lewis suffered a severe quad strain during Thursday's game against the Royals and will be sidelined for over a month, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
President of baseball operations Derek Falvey said Saturday that Lewis will require at least one month of rest to simply recover. At that point, the team will reassess his situation and begin to put together a plan to build him back up. With Lewis out, Willi Castro figures to serve as Minnesota's primary third baseman going forward.

Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE
Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Smacks homer Friday
Ramirez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-4 win over the Athletics.
Ramirez set the tone with a first-inning blast, but that was his lone hit of the game. He has gone 2-for-10 with a homer and a triple, as well as three RBI and two runs scored, through the first two games of the season. Ramirez hit third against right-hander Ross Stripling, but it's expected the Cleveland third baseman will bat either second or third throughout the season, and it's unclear how much the opposing pitcher will affect manager Stephen Vogt's decisions.

Royce Lewis 3B | MIN
Twins' Royce Lewis: Headed to injured list
The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right quadriceps strain, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Lewis was taken out of Thursday's game versus Kansas City after suffering a quad injury while running the bases. He initially said his injury felt like a cramp, but MRI results revealed the injury to be more serious. He'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days, and the Twins will promote Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul to take Lewis' place on the active roster.

Alex Bregman 3B | CHC
Astros' Alex Bregman: Reaches base three times
Bregman went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base Friday against the Yankees.
The Astros couldn't muster much offense in a 7-1 loss, but Bregman had a productive game. He swiped his first bag of the season on a double steal with Kyle Tucker in the third inning and also tallied his first RBI of the campaign two frames earlier. Bregman attempted only four stolen bases in 2023, so his aggressiveness on the basepaths early in the new campaign is encouraging.

J.D. Davis 1B | LAA
Athletics' J.D. Davis: Drills two homers
Davis went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Friday's loss to Cleveland.
Davis went deep twice against Guardians starter Logan Allen. After being released by the Giants during Cactus League play, Davis quickly found a new home with the A's. His counting stats may end up being lacking due to Oakland's lineup, but the 30-year-old infielder's consistent playing time should help him maintain value in deeper leagues.

Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Scratched from lineup Friday
Devers was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against Seattle due to left shoulder soreness, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.
Devers was previously set to start at third base and bat second. Whether the absence will extend beyond Friday remains to be seen. With Devers out, Bobby Dalbec will start at third base, while Tyler O'Neill will move from fifth to second in the batting order between Jarren Duran and Masataka Yoshida.

Rafael Devers 3B | SF
Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Swats Opening Day homer
Devers went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two total RBI in Thursday's 6-4 victory versus Seattle.
Devers put Boston's first runs of the season on the board in the third inning with his 400-foot, two-run homer off Mariners ace Luis Castillo. The third baseman is off to a strong start to the campaign as he seeks to build upon the 33-homer, 100-RBI performance he posted last year. Devers is one of the most reliable third baseman in fantasy after averaging 33 long balls, 100 RBI and 150 games played over the past three campaigns.

Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: Hits leadoff home run
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout during Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Twins.
Garcia's home run came on the third pitch he saw, leading off the bottom of the first with a blast over the left-field wall. His homer was the only blemish on Pablo Lopez's line as the Twins hurler otherwise shut the door on Garcia and the rest of the Royals lineup. The third baseman parlayed a strong spring into a leadoff role and began the season with a long ball after hitting just four last season over 464 at-bats.
