Plouffe is 28 for 89 this month with three home runs, 20 RBI and 14 runs scored. His current 11-for-28 run has improved his stat line on the season to .251/.317/.417 with 10 home runs and a career-high 65 RBI.

Machado's timetable remains the same following the surgery. The club expects Machado to be ready by spring training. Machado missed time early in the season while recovering from surgery on his other knee. He hit .278/.324/.431 over 327 at-bats.

Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is not planning on rehabbing with the team post-surgery, Comcast SportsNet Baltimore reports.
Machado will undergo surgery on his right knee Wednesday, then he'll report to the team's spring training complex in Sarasota after three weeks to continue rehab his instead. He is planning on being with the team in October for the playoffs and wants to have a "normal" spring training, according to the report. -

Donaldson suffered the injury in his last at-bat of Saturday's game. He wanted to play Sunday, but the team wanted him to undergo precautionary testing. Donaldson has hit .249/.335/.458 with 25 home runs and 84 RBI in 478 at-bats.

Perhaps Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe got tired out running around the bases Friday night. But Ron Gardenhire has given him the afternoon off for the first game of the split doubleheader Saturday against Detroit.
Plouffe had three hits and scored four runs in a rout to open the weekend series.

Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe began August on a tear and seems to be setting out to end it the same way.
Plouffe pitched in to a two-touchdown pounding of Detroit on Friday in a big way. He singled, doubled and put the cherry on top with a 422-foot blast in the eighth inning. He scored four runs and drove in three to improve his stat line on the year to .245/.312/.407.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria snapped out of a slump in a big way Friday, in an 8-0 win over the Blue Jays.
Longoria, who had failed to record multiple hits in his previous six games, brought out with a 3-for-4 performance Friday. He added a double and a home run, driving in three runs and scoring once in the blowout.
Longoria has struggled through the worst season of his career so far, hitting just .254/.327/.397, with 16 home runs and 70 RBI in 128 games.
