  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Will be reevaluated Friday

Duffy (heel) will continue to rest and be reevaluated Friday, Marc Topkin of Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy had been working his way through multiple minor-league rehab games before being temporarily shut down this week. An update on his condition should become available following his medical evaluation Friday.

  • Trevor Plouffe 3B | PHI

Athletics' Trevor Plouffe: Takes seat Tuesday

Plouffe is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.

Plouffe has started the past eight games, and despite hitting safely in the past four games, he'll head to the bench for a night off. Ryon Healy will man the hot corner in his stead.

  • Cody Asche 3B | NYM

White Sox's Cody Asche: Accepts outright assignment to Triple-A

Asche was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.

Asche was ineffective during his time as the White Sox's primary designated hitter, so they opted to cast him off the 40-man roster to leave a spot open in case they need a spot for an upcoming callup. He already accepted the assignment, so he'll continue playing in the organization as a depth piece moving forward.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Heads to bench Tuesday

Bregman is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Marlins, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Astros are mixing things up Tuesday night while they're without the ability to use a designated hitter, so Bregman will get a night off despite posting a .787 OPS over his past 14 games. Marwin Gonzalez will man the hot corner in his stead.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Taking time off from rehab

Duffy (heel) will take two days off from his rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte due to soreness in his surgically repaired left heel, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy took last Friday's game off as well and now projects to not take the field again for the Stone Crabs until Wednesday. He's gone 2-for-8 with one strikeout over the three contests he has participated in, and there's nothing that currently indicates this soreness is out of the ordinary.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Blue Jays' Josh Donaldson: Chance to return over weekend

Per manager John Gibbons, Donaldson (calf) may be ready to return to the Blue Jays for their upcoming weekend series with the Orioles, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports that the star third baseman has been doing all baseball activities outside of playing in an actual game, which is speculated to occur fairly soon. The Blue Jays have not ruled out a return this weekend, although it seems safer to say that Donaldson can be expected back sometime in the next week or two.

  • Trevor Plouffe 3B | PHI

Athletics' Trevor Plouffe: Blasts sixth homer Sunday

Plouffe went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers.

Plouffe smacked the first of three Oakland round trippers, a 401-foot solo shot to left in the second. The veteran third baseman's bat is starting to come around after a moribund April, as he's now hitting .294 with two home runs in May. Plouffe's average had dipped to .191 as recently as May 5, but he's compiled a .409 average, .515 wOBA and 38.9 percent hard-contact rate in the subsequent six games.

  • Evan Longoria 3B | ARI

Rays' Evan Longoria: Continues May surge Sunday

Longoria went 2-for-4 with two RBI from a run-scoring single and a sacrifice fly in Sunday's 11-2 win over the Red Sox. He also walked and scored once.

Following an 0-for-4 night on May 3 versus the Marlins, Longoria's average sat at the Mendoza Line. He's raised it 42 points since that game, courtesy of a .341 average and .387 wOBA over the subsequent 11 outings. Longoria is slashing .313/.352/.479 over 54 plate appearances overall in May, racking up six multi-hit efforts already this month.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Hits grand salami in Sunday's nightcap

Bregman went 1-for-4 with a grand slam Sunday night, helping to secure a 10-7 win over the Yankees in the second game of a doubleheader.

The home run put the finishing touches on a six-run first inning, which propelled the Astros to the win. Bregman's season has been devoid of power (.094 ISO), but four of his last six knocks have gone for extra bases.

  • Mike Moustakas 3B | CHW

Royals' Mike Moustakas: Tallies four RBI in Sunday's win

Moustakas went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's victory over Baltimore.

The third baseman's blast, his ninth of the year, led the Royals to a five-run fourth inning. Moustakas' four RBI were a season high and propelled his team to a come-from-behind victory that finished off a three-game sweep of the O's. He's off to a fine start -- especially when taking into account the Royals' anemic offense -- slashing .250/.282/.493 with 18 RBI and 19 runs through 34 games.
