Davis signed a contract with the Tecolotes de Los Dos Laredos of the Mexican League on Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Davis went just 1-for-9 while appearing in five games for the Angels last year, though he slashed .294/.371/.524 with 10 homers, 38 RBI and 36 runs scored across 213 plate appearances with the club's Triple-A affiliate. After failing to sign a contract during the offseason, the 32-year-old will now take his talents to Mexico, where a strong season could recapture the attention of major-league organizations.

Davis had elected free agency after being outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster but is now back on a restructured minor-league pact. The 32-year-old played five games with the Halos this season, going 1-for-9 at the plate. He'll head to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Since joining the active roster April 10, Davis has gone just 1-for-9 with three strikeouts while appearing in only five games. His lack of success and playing time has now caused him to lose his spot on the 40-man roster in favor of Gustavo Campero, who was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

The Angels selected Davis' contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Davis was off to a nice start with Salt Lake, slashing .297/.357/.487 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 10 contests. While the 31-year-old could see occasional playing time at third base while Yoan Moncada (thumb) is sidelined, Davis is likely to operate mostly in a reserve role.
Davis went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run Saturday in a Cactus League win over Milwaukee.
Davis plated the final two runs of the game with a blast to center field in the seventh inning. It was the first long ball of the spring for the veteran infielder, who is in camp as a non-roster invitee. Davis has struggled with a .182/.217/.364 slash line so far this spring, though he has a chance of making the Opening Day roster due in part to injuries to Anthony Rendon (hip), Zach Neto (shoulder) and Luis Rengifo (hamstring).

Davis suffered through a terrible 2024 campaign, slashing only .218/.293/.338 with four home runs across 46 contests between the Athletics and Yankees. The 31-year-old had a career .775 OPS prior to last season, however, so nabbing him on a minor-league pact is a sensible move by the Halos. Davis could provide depth at the corner infield spots and also left field.
