Valencia went 2-for-4 with a two-run double and a run in Wednesday's 5-0 win over the Rockies.

Valencia's second-inning two-bagger opened the scoring on the day and gave the veteran infielder a solid 14 RBI in May. The 32-year-old wraps up the month having reached safely in nine straight games and having generated a .306/.364/.459 line over 107 plate appearances.

Devers, 20, is hitting just .179 over his last 10 games for Double-A Portland.

One of the youngest players at this level, Devers is still more than holding his own overall. He is slashing .287/.355/.503 with eight home runs and 29 RBI through 45 games. With no real competition blocking his path at the hot corner, Devers has a slight chance to reach the majors sometime this summer if he heats back up.

Plouffe is out of the lineup Thursday against the Indians.

Plouffe will be held out of the starting lineup after making three straight starts, and 12 of the last 13 overall. He'll give way to Ryon Healy -- who owns an .847 OPS since the start of May -- at third base.

Bregman went 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBI in Wednesday's 17-6 rout of the Twins.

He's now homered in three straight games, and all six of his long balls on the season have come since May 14. Bregman had a very slow start to the year at the plate, particularly in the power categories, but fantasy GMs who were patient with him -- or who took a chance on him while he was struggling -- are now beginning to reap the rewards.

Moustakas is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

After providing three homers in a four-game stretch, Moustakas has hit a rough patch over the last three contests, recording one hit in 11 at-bats. He wouldn't stand a great chance at getting back on track Wednesday with lefty Matt Boyd on the mound, so Moustakas will hit the bench in favor of Cheslor Cuthbert.

Donaldson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Manager John Gibbons made it clear that the team would ease Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki back into action following lengthy DL stints, and indeed both are sitting for Wednesday's early-afternoon game. This marks Donaldson's second absence in six games since his activation. He's gone 4-for-16 with a double and a homer since returning to Toronto.

Alvarez is expected to opt out of his minor-league contract and leave Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.

As was the case with Michael Bourn, the O's are planning for the departure of another veteran working under a minor-league deal. The organization hoped to develop Alvarez as an outfielder, but that experiment hasn't panned out. The 30-year-old leads the International League with 26 RBI in May, but his overall performance this year has been less than impressive. Through 51 games with the Tides, Alvarez is slashing .219/.293/.443 with 47 strikeouts in 201 at-bats.

Donaldson (calf) is expected to sit out Wednesday's matinee against Cincinnati for precautionary reasons, Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reports.

When John Gibbons was asked if Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki -- both recently activated from long DL stints -- would make the quick turnaround after Tuesday night's action, the skipper provided a humorous response. "Wait until (Wednesday)," Gibbons said. "You trying to kill attendance?" However, the team has made clear that it will use extreme caution in easing the pair back into action, so owners should seek alternate options before Wednesday's slate kicks off.

Bregman went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly in Tuesday's win over Minnesota.

He's opened this series by homering in its first two games, and Bregman now has four long balls to go with a .294 average, six RBI, six runs and a steal over his last nine contests. That doesn't exactly qualify as a breakout, but Bregman is slowly pulling up his stats after a stone-cold start. It took him awhile to warm up to major-league pitching last year, too, so don't be surprised if he suddenly goes on a tear now that he's starting to feel good at the plate.

Segura pounded out four singles in six at-bats and stole a base Tuesday at Colorado.

He neither drove in nor scored a run, which is a surprising outcome for a four-hit day out of the leadoff spot in Coors -- especially considering that the Mariners put 10 runs on the board. Nonetheless, Segura's got his average up to a lofty .345 to go with four homers and seven steals despite having missed some time to injury in April. Some BABIP regression may bring that mark down, but he's a good bet to clear .300 easily for the second straight year while providing a strong power-speed combo.
