  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Starting rehab Friday

Polanco (knee) will begin a rehab stint with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

It originally didn't seem like Polanco would need to play any games in the minors before returning, but that is exactly what he will be doing for the next couple days. The infielder's knee has kept him out of action since late August.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Guardians' Owen Miller: Riding pine Friday

Miller isn't in the lineup Friday against the Twins.

Miller drew four consecutive starts this week and went 6-for-15 with a double, a run and two strikeouts across that span. However, he'll be on the bench for a second consecutive matchup while Josh Naylor starts at first base and bats cleanup.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Still not starting

Hoerner (triceps) isn't starting Friday against Colorado.

Hoerner has been dealing with a triceps injury recently and will be out of the lineup for a fourth consecutive game. It's not yet clear whether he'll require a trip to the injured list, but Christopher Morel will start at shortstop and bat ninth Friday.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Activated by Atlanta

Albies (foot) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Albies underwent surgery to repair a broken right foot July 15 and has been sidelined since then, but he began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett at the beginning of September. He hit .333 with a home run, a triple, six RBI and four runs over seven minor-league games and will be available for Friday's series opener against the Phillies. Albies' return will likely lead to decreased playing time for Vaughn Grissom.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Snaps homer drought in victory

Marte went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Padres.

Marte hit the first of three Arizona solo homers in the contest, smashing a 423-foot shot in the fourth inning. It was his first long ball since July 27, a span of 36 games. After going deep 32 times in 2019, Marte has hit only 27 homers in 260 contests since.

  • Padres' Brandon Drury: Tallies two hits in return

Drury went 2-for-3 with a double in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Drury returned from a stint on the 7-day injured list due to a concussion and recorded two of the Padres' three hits in a shutout loss, including their lone extra-base knock. He missed 12 days in total but picked up where he left off upon his return, notching his third multi-hit performance over his past five games. Drury is slashing .233/.273/.427 since joining San Diego in an Aug. 2 trade.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Goes deep again

Andrus went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Guardians.

Andrus continued his recent power binge, cranking his 14th homer of the season in the fifth inning. He has now gone deep six times in his last 15 starts, also tallying 17 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span. Since joining the White Sox on Aug. 19, Andrus has hit .307 with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and three stolen bases.

  • Padres' Brandon Drury: Returns from IL, starting Thursday

Drury (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list and will bat sixth as the designated hitter Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Drury has been unavailable nearly two weeks due to the concussion he suffered Sept. 2 versus the Dodgers, but he's back in the lineup for the Padres for Thursday's series opener. The 30-year-old went 5-for-14 with two home runs, a double and five RBI in the five games preceding the absence.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Not in Thursday's lineup

Arraez (hamstring) isn't starting Thursday against the Royals.

Arraez exited Wednesday's win over the Royals due to hamstring tightness, but he underwent an MRI that came back clean. He's considered day-to-day but will be out of the lineup for at least one matchup while Kyle Garlick serves as the designated hitter and bats leadoff Thursday.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: On bench Thursday

Altuve isn't in the lineup Thursday against the Athletics.

Altuve will receive a rare day off after he hit .364 with five runs, two steals, a walk and five strikeouts over the last five games. Aledmys Diaz will take over at the keystone and bat second Thursday.
