  • Miguel Vargas 3B | CHW

Dodgers' Miguel Vargas: Out of lineup Tuesday

Vargas is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Twins.

Mookie Betts will play second base and hit leadoff to facilitate a fully lefty-hitting outfield for Los Angeles. Vargas went 2-for-5 with a double in Monday's series opener versus Minnesota and boasts a .935 OPS over his last 48 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Gets Tuesday off

Massey is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Massey has been excellent in May with a .343/.455/.571 slash line in 35 at-bats, but he'll get a night off against Seth Lugo and San Diego on Tuesday. Matt Duffy will start at second base and hit seventh.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Recalled from Triple-A

Miami recalled Edwards from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Edwards will add some versatility to the Marlins' position-player mix with Jazz Chisholm (toe) facing at least a month-long absence. Edwards, 23, has batted .316/.431/.390 with zero homers and eight steals in 26 games this season at the Triple-A level. He stands 1-for-6 through three major-league games.

  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Will return Wednesday

Hernandez (hamstring) will return to Boston's lineup Wednesday against the Mariners, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Hernandez's absence will officially be limited to three games as a result of his strained left hamstring. Prior to his injury, the 31-year-old utility man was slashing .235/.278/.294 in his last five games.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Aiming for middle of road trip

Arroyo (hamstring) will not travel with the Red Sox for the start of their road trip this weekend but hopes to join the team a few days into it, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Arroyo has been going through workouts but needs to play in a rehab game or two before being activated. The Red Sox are in San Diego this weekend before then going to Anaheim and Arizona, and it sounds like the goal is to get Arroyo back for one of the latter two stops.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Starting in right field

Biggio is starting in right field and batting eighth for the Blue Jays on Tuesday versus the Yankees, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.

He'll get a shot to play right field while George Springer fills in at designated hitter. It's the first start in nearly a week for Biggio.

  • Red Sox's Enrique Hernandez: Sitting out again

Hernandez (hamstring) remains out of the Red Sox' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Hernandez hasn't played since Saturday because of a left hamstring injury. He was able to participate in some pregame drills Monday and at this point, the hope is he can avoid the injured list. Pablo Reyes is handling shortstop duties again Tuesday.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Hits fourth homer of season

Frazier went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 9-5 loss to the Angels.

Frazier gave the Orioles a 2-1 lead with a two-run home run in the second, marking his fourth long ball of the season. He's hit safely in three straight appearances, but he's still slashing just .227/.324/.370 across 40 games (136 plate appearances). With Ramon Urias (hamstring) on the injured list, Frazier figures to get the bulk of starts at second base moving forward.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Rangers' Marcus Semien: Logs three hits in loss

Semien went 3-for-5 in Monday's 12-0 loss to Atlanta.

Semien had three of the Rangers' 10 singles and extended his current hit streak to six games (9-for-25, .360). The second baseman is batting a career-high .297 through 41 games.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Emerging from slump

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 5-2 win over Oakland.

Rojas extended a hit streak to five consecutive games following a brutal 4-for-35 (.114) stretch from April 23 to May 10. Hitting enough has never been a knock on Rojas, so his bat should keep in the lineup most days. It was his work in the field in 2022 that eventually cost him playing time, but Rojas has shown improvement this season with eight outs above average at third base. At this point, he remains on the strong side of a platoon at the hot corner.
