Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI
White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Takes seat Friday
Andrus is not in the lineup Friday against the Athletics.
Lenyn Sosa will cover second base and bat eighth. Andrus is presumably getting a routine breather after coming to life with a .352/.361/.578 slash line across his last 72 plate appearances dating back to Aug. 4.

Nolan Gorman 2B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Returns from IL
The Cardinals reinstated Gorman (back) from the injured list Friday, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Gorman landed on the injured list last week with a lower-back strain and will now return after a minimum stay. The 23-year-old was slashing .235/.350/.412 through 40 plate appearances in August prior to getting injured, but he will remain in the dugout for Friday's game with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez on the mound for the Phillies. Gorman's return will force Jose Fermin back to Triple-A Memphis in order to clear a roster spot.

Jose Fermin 2B | STL
Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Optioned to Triple-A
Fermin was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Fermin has managed just four hits in 25 at-bats for the Cardinals this season and had started just one of the last five games. With Nolan Gorman back from the injured list, Fermin's playing time was about to be cut even more. Instead, he'll head back to Memphis to play regularly.

Tony Kemp 2B | MIN
Athletics' Tony Kemp: Slugs rare homer Thursday
Kemp went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run in a win over the White Sox on Thursday.
It was an unusual night for Kemp, considering he hit out of the No. 5 spot in the order for only the third time all season and proceeded to belt just his fourth long ball of the campaign. Kemp got off to a quiet start in August, but he's heated up over the last six games by going 5-for-11 with two doubles, Thursday's homer, two RBI, two walks and Thursday's pair of runs.

Enrique Hernandez SS | LAD
Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Has productive day at plate
Hernandez went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Guardians.
Hernandez doubled in his first at-bat before coming around to score on a Mookie Betts single, giving the Dodgers their first run of the game. The utility player then chipped in an RBI double and a solo homer in his final two plate appearances, giving him his first long ball since Aug. 7. It was just his third three-hit performance this season, but two of them have come since he was re-acquired by Los Angeles. He's now batting .292 in August with two homers, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored and has driven in two runs in back-to-back games.

Ji-Hwan Bae 2B | NYM
Pirates' Ji Hwan Bae: Swipes 21st bag
Bae went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base Thursday against the Cubs.
Bae has been a near everyday player since he was activated from the injured list Aug. 18. He now has five hits across 21 at-bats since his return, with Thursday's performance also marking his first stolen base in that span. Bae's usage of late suggests he'll have a chance to lead off against righties, and he also remains in the lineup against southpaws while playing either second base or center field.

Liover Peguero SS | PIT
Pirates' Liover Peguero: Not in lineup Thursday
Peguero is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.
Vinny Capra will start at second base and bat sixth. This is presumably just a routine breather for Peguero, who went 2-for-4 with two singles, a stolen base and a run scored in the Pirates' series finale versus the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Edouard Julien 2B | COL
Twins' Edouard Julien: Sitting against southpaw
Julien isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against Texas, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Southpaw Andrew Heaney will start on the mound for the Rangers, meaning the left-handed bat of Julien will stay put in the Twins' dugout to begin the game. Kyle Farmer will take over at second base and bat seventh.
