Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Turning corner

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday the team hopes to start planning a minor-league rehab assignment for Grissom (hamstring) toward the end of the week, MLB.com reports.

Grissom has been building strength in both hamstrings and appears to have turned a corner in his recovery. Cora believes Grissom's issues may be related to his winter preparation, which was different compared to previous offseasons after being acquired from Atlanta.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Homers in win

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 7-5 win over Atlanta.

Marte belted a home run to tie the game in the third inning of a back-and-forth affair. A starter in the upcoming All-Star game, Marte is batting .283/.351/.506 with 18 home runs, 52 RBI and 62 runs over 88 games.

  • Mets' Jose Iglesias: Collects three hits in victory

Iglesias went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win against Washington.

Iglesias had been running cold in July coming into Wednesday, batting .185 (5-for-27) over eight contests. However, he's continued to start on a consistent basis, as he's been in the lineup -- primarily at second base -- in five of the Mets' past six contests. That certainly paid off for the team Wednesday, as Iglesias collected three hits, including a tiebreaking two-run single in the sixth frame. The veteran infielder is batting a robust .338 on the campaign, albeit with just one homer and one steal over 27 games.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Nabs steal in win

Altuve went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the Marlins.

Altuve has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games, going 21-for-56 (.375) over that span. He's rounded his production during the hot stretch with two home runs, four steals, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. The second baseman's .822 OPS on the year is his lowest in the last four seasons, but he's still put together an excellent campaign by batting .309 with 13 homers, 14 steals, 41 RBI and 55 runs scored through 89 contests.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Homers in Wednesday's loss

India went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Rockies.

India was scratched with a left knee contusion Tuesday, and he returned in a non-defensive role as the designated hitter Wednesday. The homer was his second in July, though he's batting just .194 (6-for-31) with three RBI this month. Overall, the second baseman is at a .269/.369/.411 slash line with seven homers, 37 RBI, 44 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 19 doubles and one triple through 350 plate appearances this season.

  • Colt Keith 3B | DET

Tigers' Colt Keith: Triples, scores twice in win

Keith went 1-for-2 with a walk, a triple, an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Guardians.

Keith continues to chug along as he extended his hitting streak to eight games. During that stretch, the rookie has batted .419 with six extra-base hits. After looking shaky to start the season, Keith now appears to be a solid fantasy contributor, and fantasy mangers should jump on the 22-year-old if he's still available in their leagues given his recent performance and considerable upside.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Tallies two hits in win

Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Orioles.

Hoerner extended his hitting streak to six games as he tries to build some momentum heading into the All-Star break. The infielder is batting just .248 for the season, though he's hitting .333 during the recent hot streak. Hoerner batted .281 or better each of the last three seasons, which provides some optimism that a big second half is in store.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Heading to bench Wednesday

Brujan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.

Brujan has emerged as the Marlins' primary option at the keystone since Otto Lopez (back) was placed on the injured list last week. Though Jonah Bride will get the nod at second base Wednesday, Brujan had started in each of the previous seven games while going 3-for-23 with two doubles, one stolen base, four walks, six runs and two RBI.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Sitting versus southpaw

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.

With lefty Patrick Corbin toeing the rubber for Washington, the lefty-hitting McNeil will bow out of the starting nine. Brandon Nimmo and Tyrone Taylor will serve as the Mets' starters in the corner outfield while Jose Iglesias gets the nod at second base.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Heads to bench against lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

With southpaw Cristopher Sanchez on the hill for the Phillies, the lefty-hitting Lux will retreat to the bench. Chris Taylor will cover second base in Lux's stead.
