The Astros and Dubon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $5 million contract Thursday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

This was Dubon's third of four arbitration-eligible years. The utility player slashed .269/.296/.361 with four homers in 137 games with the Astros in 2024. He underwent surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb in October but will be ready to roll for spring training.

Biggio agreed to a minor-league contract with the Royals on Sunday.

The 29-year-old spent time with three organizations in 2024 and elected free agency in November after Atlanta removed him from the 40-man roster. Biggio had a .798 OPS in his first two big-league seasons, but he's faltered to a .216/.325/.349 slash line over the past four years. He should serve as utility depth for Kansas City and isn't likely to be a significant contributor even if he makes the Opening Day roster.

The White Sox agreed to terms with Rojas on a one-year contract Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

It's a good landing spot for playing time for Rojas, who should see close to everyday at-bats in Chicago between second base, third base and shortstop. The 30-year-old slashed just .225/.304/.336 with eight home runs and 10 stolen bases across 474 plate appearances for Seattle in 2024. If Rojas bounces back offensively in 2025, he's a likely trade candidate at the deadline.

The Cubs acquired Brujan from the Marlins on Sunday in exchange for first baseman Matt Mervis, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Miami had designated Brujan for assignment last week, but the 26-year-old utility man will regain a 40-man roster spot with the move to Chicago. Once viewed as one of the top prospects in the Tampa Bay system during his time in the minors, Brujan has slashed a woeful .189/.261/.270 (50 wRC+) across 550 plate appearances in the majors with the Rays and Marlins over the last four seasons. Though the change of scenery could help get his development back on track, Brujan profiles as a bench bat at this stage of his career, with most of his value coming from his ability to play all over the infield and outfield.

The Tigers agreed to terms with Torres on a contract Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

According to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com, it's a one-year, $15 million deal. He's coming off a down year, having posted a .709 OPS with 15 homers over 154 regular-season contests, but Torres collected an .800 OPS with 25 long balls in 2023. Torres is expected to play second base for the Tigers, per Rogers, which means Colt Keith will shift either to third base or first base.

The Marlins designated Brujan for assignment Friday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Brujan played in a career-high 102 games last season, during which he slashed .222/.303/.319 with 16 RBI and five stolen bases. However, Miami signed Eric Wagaman to a one-year deal Friday, which will force Brujan to give up his spot on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old's defensive versatility could draw interest from other teams on the waiver wire, though chances are he begins the season in Triple-A.

Trejo signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday and received an invitation to spring training.

In 67 big-league plate appearances with the Rockies last year, Trejo managed just a .325 OPS and one RBI -- by far his worst offensive season in the majors. He bounced back after signing a minor-league deal with the Dodgers, slashing .265/.346/.408 with 24 RBI and five stolen bases in Triple-A, but there is still little hope for him to contribute in a meaningful way for the Rangers.

Texas manager Bruce Bochy is considering giving Semien more days off in 2025, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Semien, who is entering his age-34 season, has missed just four regular-season games in three years with the Rangers. Bochy said Wednesday he's discussed the idea of more off time with Semien and also broached moving him around the batting order; the second baseman has been Texas' primary leadoff hitter since signing with the club in 2022. Semien's .699 OPS last season was lower than his career mark (.763), but there wasn't much difference in his underlying metrics, suggesting a .250 BABIP as the most likely reason for his subpar 2024 season.

The Red Sox traded Valdez to the Pirates on Sunday in exchange for minor-league pitcher Joe Vogatsky.

Valdez was DFA'd by Boston on Wednesday, but he'll get a fresh start in the Pirates organization. Valdez slashed .214/.270/.363 with six home runs in 223 plate appearances in 2024 while primarily playing second base.

Following the acquisition of Carlos Narvaez from the Yankees, Valdez will end up as the odd man out of a spot on Boston's 40-man roster. The 25-year-old utility man slashed just .214/.270/.363 in 223 big-league plate appearances last season, though his defensive versatility could prompt another team to take him in off waivers.
