Kemp went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and two runs Wednesday in the Athletics' 12-10 win over the Royals.

While starting five of the Athletics' last six contests, Kemp has gone 8-for-20 with a pair of walks, five runs and two RBI to improve his slash line to .269/.374/.406 across 344 plate appearances on the season. He's seen most of his action in left field this month, but Seth Brown's recent return from the COVID-19 injured list has resulted in Kemp picking up more work at the keystone of late. Kemp will start at second base and bat ninth in Thursday's series finale.

Torres went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base Wednesday in a win over Baltimore.

For the third straight game, Torres started at second base, which is likely to be the case throughout most of the remainder of the season. He was one of two Yankees with multiple hits in the contest and also contributed his 14th stolen base of the campaign. Torres has gone 6-for-19 with a home run, two RBI, four runs and two steals over his past five games.

Estrada hit a solo home run in his only at-bat Wednesday in a loss to San Diego.

Estrada came on as a pinch hitter in the third inning and swatted a solo shot to left field. He didn't remain in the game, however, as he continues to be used primarily off the bench. Over his past seven games, Estrada has logged a cumulative 10 plate appearances, going 3-for-9 with two RBI, three runs and a walk.

Frazier went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run in a 9-6 victory versus the Giants on Wednesday.

The second baseman plated the Padres' first two runs with a double in the first inning, and he went on to collect three additional hits in the contest. It was Frazier's third four-hit game of the campaign but his first since joining San Diego in late July. After a slow start to his Padres tenure, Frazier has began to pick things up with a .375 average and five RBI over his past seven games.

Cleveland recalled Clement from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Wednesday's game against the Twins.

He'll join Cleveland as a replacement on the active roster for Amed Rosario (personal), who was placed on the bereavement list. Andres Gimenez will start at shortstop Wednesday and is expected to serve as the primary option at the position while Rosario is away from the team, but Clement could push Owen Miller and Yu Chang for work at second base in the short term.

Cleveland placed Rosario on the bereavement list Wednesday.

Ernie Clement was summoned from Triple-A Columbus to give Cleveland an extra body in the infield while Rosario tends to a family matter. While Rosario is away from the team for the next 3-to-7 days, Andres Gimenez -- who is starting Wednesday -- is expected to serve as Cleveland's primary shortstop.

Jones isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Jones has gone 0-for-4 with two strikeouts across his last two appearances, and he'll be out of the lineup for a third straight game. Ramon Urias will shift to second base while Kelvin Gutierrez starts at the hot corner.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Chavis (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Indianapolis in the coming days, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Pittsburgh plans to have Chavis serve as a designated hitter in his initial rehab games at Indianapolis before clearing him for work in the infield. With that in mind, Chavis' rehab assignment will likely extend through the weekend and potentially into the early portion of next week, but in the absence of any setbacks with his strained right elbow, he should make it back from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season.

Torres went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's win over Baltimore. He also committed his 19th fielding error of the campaign.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently announced that Torres will be moving to second base for the remainder of the season due to his fielding problems at shortstop, but the change didn't seem to help matters Tuesday. Torres bobbled a grounder in the sixth inning that resulted in an error, though Baltimore didn't capitalize on the mistake. On the plus side, Torres also swiped his 13th bag of the campaign, which is one more than he stole in his first three seasons combined.

Merrifield went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 win over Oakland.

Merrifield has recorded consecutive three-hit efforts, although all three knocks Tuesday were singles. The second baseman is batting a solid .283 through 13 games in September, right in line with his .280 average this season. He's added 10 home runs, 70 RBI, 88 runs scored and 40 stolen bases through 640 plate appearances overall.
