Hoerner was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals with general soreness, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Sergio Alcantara will slot into the lineup at shortstop, batting eighth. Hoerner played in both games of Friday's doubleheader and is available off the bench.

Torres went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 8-3 win over the Red Sox.

His solo shot in the seventh inning off Martin Perez capped the scoring on the night. Torres extended his hitting streak to 10 games with the performance, a stretch during which he's batting .389 (14-for-36), but Friday's homer was only his eighth of the year and second in 20 contests since he returned to the lineup in early September.

Rodgers went 3-for-5 with a double and a run in Friday's loss to the Giants.

Though Colorado managed 11 hits in the contest, only one went for extra bases -- Rodgers' third-inning double. The infielder has enjoyed a standout September offensively, notching nine multi-hit performances across 20 games. On the month, he is batting .322 (28-for-87) with five homers, 14 runs and 13 RBI.

Altuve went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, and an additional run scored in Friday's 14-2 loss to the Athletics.

Altuve slammed a solo shot in the third inning off Frankie Montas. In addition, he reached base on an error and scored in the first frame. He extended his hitting streak to 12 games and is batting .333 in that stretch. The second baseman is slashing .278/.354/.490 with 30 home runs, 81 RBI and a team-leading 113 runs scored in 647 plate appearances this season.

Semien went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in a loss to the Twins on Friday.

Toronto managed only four hits in the loss, with half of those coming off Semien's bat. The infielder accounted for the team's only run of the game with his 439-foot solo shot in the sixth inning. Semien has gone deep in three of his past seven contests and ranks fourth in the majors with 42 long balls on the campaign. He is one homer away from tying Davey Johnson's all-time single-season mark for a second baseman.

Espinal (hip) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Espinal has been dealing with a strained right hip flexor since the end of August, but he began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo last weekend. He made four appearances in Buffalo and went 4-for-13 with a home run, a double and two RBI. He's starting at the hot corner and batting eighth in Friday's game against the Twins.

Jones isn't starting Friday's game against the Rangers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Jones started at second base in Thursday's win over the Rangers and went 1-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. Pat Valaika will start at the keystone while Richie Martin starts at shortstop.

Gimenez will sit for Friday's game against the White Sox.

Gimenez sits for the third time in four games. His previous two absences were easily explained, as he sat against a lefty Tuesday before sitting for the nightcap of Tuesday's doubleheader. This time around, however, he'll sit for a normal night game against the right-handed Dylan Cease. Amed Rosario completed COVID-19 protocols after his trip to the bereavement list and will start at shortstop, while Owen Miller starts at second base.

Clement was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Clement gave Cleveland extra infield depth with Amed Rosario away on bereavement leave, but he's no longer needed now that Rosario has gone through COVID-19 protocols and is back with the team. Clement went 3-for-11 with a homer during his brief time with the team but still owns a .624 OPS through 40 games thus far in his rookie season.

Rosario has been activated from the COVID-19 injured list and is starting Friday's game against the White Sox.

Rosario was in the COVID-19 protocols over the last three days after he returned from attending a personal matter outside the country. He's now able to return to the club and will start at shortstop Friday.
