  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

    Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Resting Tuesday

Rojas will sit Tuesday against the Pirates.

Rojas sits after starting 12 straight games, a stretch in which he hit just .216/.2732/.333. Jake Hager will get the nod at the hot corner Tuesday.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Not starting Tuesday

McNeil (hamstring) will sit Tuesday against the Astros.

McNeil exited Monday's game against the Marlins with right hamstring tightness and will be on the bench for at least one game. He's considered merely day-to-day after undergoing an MRI, per Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News, but the Mets have an off day Thursday, so it wouldn't be all that surprising if McNeil were on the bench again Wednesday. That way, he could rest for three full days. Luis Guillorme starts at second base in McNeil's absence.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Re-enters lineup as DH

Marte (hamstring) will serve as Arizona's designated hitter and No. 3 batter in Tuesday's game in San Diego.

Though he'll be eased back into action in a non-defensive role, Marte demonstrated enough progress in his recovery from a left hamstring strain to put an end to his four-game absence. Arizona will likely see how Marte's hamstring responds to any baserunning he might do Tuesday before deciding whether he's fit to return to the field at his normal spot at second base in Wednesday's series finale.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Heads to bench

Lopez will sit for the second time in three games Tuesday against the Angels.

Lopez's .300 average and 22 steals last season put him on the fantasy map, but he hasn't looked like the same guy so far this year. He's hitting just .220, while his five steals put him on pace for a modest 12. Emmanuel Rivera will start at third base Tuesday against the left-handed Reid Detmers.

  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Remains out Tuesday

Castro (calf) remains on the bench Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Castro left Sunday's series finale against the Rangers with calf tightness and didn't play Monday. His absence isn't necessarily injury-related, however, as the return of Jeimer Candelario (shoulder) means Castro no longer needs to start at third base. Whether or not he's available in a bench role Tuesday is unclear.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Delivers two-run single

Kim went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI in Monday's 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Kim delivered one of the more pivotal plays of the game, as his two-out, two-run base hit broke a 1-1 tie in the second inning. The second-year Padre has gotten on base at a .393 clip over his last seven games and should be secure in his role as the team's everyday shortstop while Fernando Tatis (wrist) remains on the 60-day injured list and without a definitive timeline for making his 2022 debut.

  • Rylan Bannon 2B | NYM

Orioles' Rylan Bannon: Called up to majors

The Orioles recalled Bannon from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Bannon was added to the 26-man roster as a replacement for reliever Mike Baumann, who was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk with Baltimore needing to reduce its pitching staff to 13 men ahead of Monday's MLB-imposed deadline. While he's up with the Orioles, Bannon is expected to serve as the primary backup at third base to Tyler Nevin, who is filling an everyday role at the position while Ramon Urias (oblique) is on the 10-day injured list.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Starting up rehab assignment

Arroyo (illness) reported to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Arroyo will likely appear in a few games for Worcester before the Red Sox bring him back from the COVID-19-related injured list. He could return to the major-league roster as soon as this weekend's series versus the Guardians.

  • Cavan Biggio RF | HOU

Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Belts first homer

Biggio went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Monday's loss to the White Sox.

Biggio accounted for two of Toronto's five extra-base hits in the contest, belting a double to right field in the seventh inning and swatting a two-run homer in the ninth that brought the Blue Jays to within a run. He had been struggling coming into the contest, going 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts over his previous four games. Biggio has yet to get going at the plate on the campaign, slashing .190/.333/.329 with one homer, eight RBI, 11 runs, a stolen base and a 30.2 percent strikeout over 96 plate appearances.

  • Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Posts steal Monday

Lopez went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a stolen base in Monday's 6-2 win over the Angels.

Lopez recorded his first steal since May 27 in this contest. He's hit safely in four of his last six games, going 6-for-19 (.316) in that span. The light-hitting 27-year-old has a .220/.288/.260 slash line with no home runs, six RBI, five stolen bases, 21 runs scored and eight doubles through 63 contests overall. He started at third base for the third time in six games, and it appears he'll take the strong side of a platoon with Emmanuel Rivera at the hot corner. Lopez also has experience at second base and shortstop, but Whit Merrifield and Bobby Witt have commanded starting roles at those positions.
