Rojas went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in a 6-3 win Tuesday in Cleveland.

Rojas walked and stole second in the first inning and is now 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts on the season. The 28-year-old is amid a mini-slump, going 1-for-16 in his last four contests. Overall, he's posted a .268/.344/.397 line that is quite comparable to his .264/.341/.411 line from a season ago.

The Dodgers selected Vargas' contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of Tuesday's game against the Giants.

The Dodgers are fairly healthy -- or at least about to be -- in the infield, but that didn't stop them from calling up one of their top prospects. Though he won't be included in the lineup Tuesday, the Dodgers likely didn't call Vargas up to ride the pine, so expect him to at the very least settle into a short-side platoon role. Vargas brings a good mix of power and speed to the table, having recorded 15 home runs, 12 steals and an .897 OPS over 94 Triple-A games this season.

Donovan is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

The versatile rookie's ability to play the corner outfield and all four infield spots gives him multiple pathways to playing time, but Donovan's ongoing slump at the plate seems to have cost him an everyday role. After producing an .584 OPS in his last 12 games dating back to July 8, the lefty-hitting Donovan will take a seat for the third time in four contests, even with a right-hander in Keegan Thompson on the hill for Chicago. Paul DeJong and Lars Nootbaar seem to be the main beneficiaries of manager Oliver Marmol choosing to limit Donovan's role of late.

Vargas will be active for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Vargas will not immediately join the Dodgers' lineup, but it appears the team is ready to give one of its best prospects a shot to show what he can do at the top level.

Short was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.

Short was optioned to Triple-A late last month, but he will rejoin the Tigers on the heels of the moves they made the last couple days. He figures to fill a utility role for the big club.

The Blue Jays acquired Merrifield from the Royals on Tuesday in exchange for right-hander Max Castillo and infielder Samad Taylor, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Merrifield notably wasn't eligible to enter Canada for the Royals' series in Toronto shortly before the All-Star break, so the Blue Jays presumably signed off on the deal with the understanding that the 33-year-old will choose to get vaccinated. If that's the case, Merrifield should settle in as the Blue Jays' everyday second baseman, allowing Santiago Espinal and Cavan Biggio to handle utility roles. Merrifield's performance has dipped in 2022 compared to years past, but he's batting .266 since the beginning of May and has registered 15 stolen bases in 18 attempts this season.

Haggerty (forehead) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, but he should be available off the bench.

Haggerty will take a seat for the third game in a row, but his continued absence from the lineup looks to be a managerial decision rather than the result of an injury. Though the 28-year-old exited Saturday's 5-4 win over Houston after suffering a cut on his forehead that required eight stitches, he was deployed off the bench as a pinch runner in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Astros. Haggerty simply appears to be viewed as a bench player, even though the Mariners are at less than full strength in the outfield with all of Julio Rodriguez (wrist), Dylan Moore (back), Mitch Haniger (ankle) and Taylor Trammell (hamstring) on the injured list.

The Padres acquired Drury from the Reds on Tuesday in exchange for shortstop Victor Acosta, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

On the books for just $900,000 this season, Drury proved to be a major value pickup from the scrap heap for the Reds. In addition to being able to play all over the infield as well as either corner-outfield spot, Drury is in the midst of a career season at the dish, as he's slashed .274/.335/.520 with 20 home runs, 62 runs, 59 RBI and two stolen bases in 385 plate appearances. Unfortunately for Drury's fantasy managers, the move from the Reds to a star-studded Padres lineup means that he may have to settle for a utility role rather than the everyday spot in the heart of the order that he enjoyed during his time in Cincinnati. He should play regularly against left-handed pitching and could be the next man up to step into an everyday role if the Padres lose a lineup regular to an injury.

Torres isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

DJ LeMahieu will play second base in place of Torres, who is 1-for-14 with six strikeouts in his last three games.

Miller went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Miller missed one game with a right forearm bruise. He was able to play all 11 innings at first base Monday, and he supplied a homer in the second inning to give the Guardians their first two runs in the game. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, slashing .241/.311/.389 in that span. The infielder has a .247/.302/.375 slash line for the year while adding five homers, 42 RBI, 40 runs scored and a stolen base through 341 plate appearances.
