  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Delivers game-winning RBI

Edman went 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI in a 5-4 win in 11 innings against Arizona on Wednesday.

Edman came up with a clutch knock in the 11th inning when he singled to center field with two outs to produce what ended up being the winning run. Overall, the infielder/outfielder collected three singles in the contest, marking his first three-hit game since he went 4-for-5 against the Mets all way back on May 31. It's been a rough campaign for Edman -- he has a meager .229/.278/.387 slash line through 96 games and has missed substantial time due to injuries -- but Los Angeles will likely look to him to provide a spark in the playoffs as he did last year when he was named the NLCS MVP.

  • Luke Keaschall 2B | MIN

Twins' Luke Keaschall: Out for rest of 2025

Keaschall was diagnosed with a sprained left thumb and will be out for the rest of the 2025 season, Audra Martin of FanDuel Sports Network North reports.

Keaschall suffered the injury while stealing second base in the second inning of Tuesday's game against the Rangers. He'll see a specialist next week to evaluate the severity of the sprain, but Martin relays that surgery is on the table. Keaschall burst onto the scene following his major-league debut April 18 but was out of action for just over three months due to a fractured right forearm. He'll end the 2025 season with a .302/.382/.445 slash line, 14 steals, 25 runs, 14 doubles, four home runs and 28 RBI over 207 plate appearances.

  • Cody Freeman 2B | TEX

Rangers' Cody Freeman: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Freeman is not in the Rangers' starting lineup against the Twins on Wednesday.

Freeman will be on the bench for the beginning of Wednesday's game while Ezequiel Duran starts at second base and bats sixth. Freeman has gone 15-for-62 (.242) with one steal, six runs, two homers and nine RBI since Sept. 1.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | ATH

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Undergoes surgery on shoulder

Gelof successfully underwent surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.

Gelof dislocated his left shoulder while diving for a grounder in the fifth inning of Friday's game against the Pirates. Now that he's undergone surgery, Gelof will turn his attention towards being ready for the start of spring training. He appeared in 30 games for the Athletics this season and finished with a .174/.230/.272 slash line with one steal, 12 runs, two homers and seven RBI in 101 plate appearances.

  • Luke Keaschall 2B | MIN

Twins' Luke Keaschall: Out of lineup Wednesday

Keaschall (thumb) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

Keaschall was removed from Tuesday's game versus Texas after he injured his thumb while stealing second base. With Keaschall out Wednesday, Ryan Fitzgerald is making the start at second base and batting eighth. Keaschall is slashing an impressive .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored, 14 stolen bases and a 19:29 BB:K across his first 207 big-league plate appearances this season.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Dealing with knee issue

Holliday is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Rays due to a knee injury, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

The Orioles had originally planned for Holliday to play against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, but the team is being cautious, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com. With Holliday sidelined, Jordan Westburg is making the start at second base for Baltimore with Jeremiah Jackson entering the starting nine at third base.

  • Donovan Walton 2B | PHI

Phillies' Donovan Walton: Booted off 40-man roster

The Phillies designated Walton for assignment Wednesday.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for the return of Edmundo Sosa (groin). Walton played infrequently after being added to the roster earlier this month, logging a total of nine plate appearances.

  • Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Activated from injured list

The Phillies activated Sosa (groin) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Sosa has missed the last couple weeks of action with a right groin strain, but he's been able to work out lately with no issues, clearing the way for his return to the active roster. The activation of Sosa could allow the Phillies to return Bryson Stott to second base until Trea Turner (hamstring) makes his way back this weekend.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Out of lineup Wednesday

Holliday is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.

With Holliday idle, Dylan Beavers moves up to the leadoff spot for the first time in his career. Jordan Westburg shifts over to second base and will bat second, as Jeremiah Jackson enters the starting nine at third base, hitting in the nine hole. In his first full season at the big-league level, Holliday is slashing .245/.316/.381 with 17 home runs, 55 RBI, 69 runs scored, 17 stolen bases and a 54:139 BB:K across 636 plate appearances.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | KC

Royals' Adam Frazier: Notches 20th double

Frazier went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Frazier stretched the Royals' lead with a two-run double in the seventh inning, though he was cut down trying to stretch it into a triple. The light-hitting second baseman owns just a .683 OPS through 129 games, but Tuesday's double was his 20th of the year -- his seventh season with 20 or more. The 33-year-old has been steady at the plate lately, collecting hits in seven of his past eight contests.
