Arauz (finger) will begin a rehab assignment at High-A Aberdeen on Friday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Arauz took part in infield work Thursday and will be cleared for game action in the minors a day later. It's not yet clear how many rehab games he'll require, but he'll likely be in the mix to rejoin the Orioles sometime next week.

Peguero has slashed just .222/.283/.292 with three home runs, eight steals and a 12:39 BB:K through 46 games since being optioned back to Double-A Altoona.

He wasn't exactly lighting up the Eastern League before his June cup of coffee in the majors, but Peguero has had a lot of trouble producing since making his return to Double-A. Though the 21-year-old shortstop has good speed and a bit of pop, the latter has hardly shown up this year. On the bright side, he has actually trimmed his strikeout rate a bit compared to last season.

Hoerner is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Brewers.

Hoerner will get a breather after he batted .356 with a homer, six RBI, four runs and two stolen bases while starting the last 12 games. Christopher Morel will take over at shortstop and bat ninth in the series opener.

Mathias started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Athletics.

Mathias, who was acquired from the Brewers at the trade deadline, was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, a transaction that got lost amidst the organizational chaos of the past week, which featured the sacking of a manager and general manager. He appeared as a pinch hitter Wednesday, doubling in his lone plate appearance, then made his first start for the Rangers on Thursday. It's unclear how he'll be used going forward, as the Rangers tend to rotate several players through the DH spot. He could serve as a right-handed complement to Brad Miller at DH or get used as a utility player capable of playing second base, third base and left field.

Massey went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Rays.

The Royals couldn't get much going offensively in the contest, but Massey provided a highlight when he swatted a solo shot to right field in the eighth inning for his first big-league homer. The 24-year-old has shown some pop in the minors this season -- he's hit 16 long balls over 87 games between Double-A and Triple-A -- and he entered the contest with five extra-base hits (four doubles and one triple) over his initial 16 major-league base knocks. Massey has already shown signs of being a good big-league hitter, slashing .321/.356/.482 over his first 17 contests.

Bae (oblique) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

Bae sustained an oblique strain in late July and has been kept off the field since then. He's expected to be eased into action as the designated hitter, but he'll be available once again after slashing .300/.367/.453 with eight homers, 59 runs, 41 RBI and 20 stolen bases over 83 games to begin the year.

Hernandez is not in the lineup for Thursday's game at Pittsburgh, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Hernandez was activated off the injured list Tuesday after missing two months with a hip flexor injury, and he'll receive Thursday off after starting the past two days. Jarren Duran will take over in center field for the Red Sox.

Kim went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run and four RBI in a 10-3 victory against Miami on Wednesday.

The Padres scored five runs in the first inning, with the fifth among that tally coming on a Kim double that scored Trent Grisham. Kim also produced the final three runs of the contest with a bases-clearing double in the ninth. The shortstop has three multi-hit performances over his past five contests to push his season batting average to .255. He's slashing .310/.344/.483 with eight doubles and nine RBI through 16 games in August.

Arauz has resided on the 10-day injured list since July 26 with a sprained right middle finger. Once activated, the 24-year-old will likely fill a utility role for the Orioles and isn't expected to receive frequent starts.

Andrus and the White Sox agreed to a contract Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

The White Sox are expected to officially announce Andrus' signing Friday, when the 33-year-old is set to join the team in Cleveland for its series opener with the Guardians. Before he was released by the Athletics on Wednesday, Andrus had been a regular starter in the infield, slashing .237/.301/.373 with eight home runs, seven stolen bases, 41 RBI and 30 runs in 386 plate appearances. Though he didn't fit in with Oakland's rebuilding plans, Andrus should be an ideal short-term fit for the White Sox, who are expected to be without top shortstop Tim Anderson (hand) until at least mid-to-late September. The White Sox will likely plug in Andrus as their new primary option at the position, leaving rookies Lenyn Sosa and Romy Gonzalez on the outside looking in for playing time.
