Braves' Gordon Beckham: Out of Sunday's lineup

Beckham is out of Sunday's lineup against Philadelphia.

Beckham has struggled at the plate recently, going just 4-for-24 over the last seven days. Jace Peterson will start at second and be hitting leadoff during Beckham's absence.

  • Danny Espinosa 2B | NYM

Nationals' Danny Espinosa: Not in Friday's lineup

Espinosa is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants, MASN's Dan Kolko reports.

Espinosa will head to the bench after starting 12 straight coming out of the break, affording Wilmer Difo his first start with the big club this season. The 29-year-old Espinosa's been mired in a miserable slump, going 5-for-44 (.114 average) with 18 strikeouts to begin the second half, but his playing time appears relatively safe for now with Trea Turner taking on a significant role in center field.

  • Grant Green 2B | MIA

Giants' Grant Green: Designated for assignment

Green was designated for assignment Thursday.

With Joe Panik being activated from the DL Thursday, Green was DFA'd in order to make room on the 40-man roster. Green posted a .261/.300/.370 slash line in 18 games since his recall from Triple-A Sacramento on June 30 and will likely head back there unless he gets picked up by another big league club during his waiver period.

  • Gordon Beckham 2B | SEA

Braves' Gordon Beckham: Not starting Thursday

Beckham is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Beckham will get some rest a day after going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one walk, one RBI and three runs scored against the Twins. This was his one bright spot over the past seven days, as he has hit .136 over that stretch. Jace Peterson will get the start at second base in his place.

  • Grant Green 2B | MIA

Giants' Grant Green: In Wednesday's lineup

Green is in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With Ramiro Pena being scratched from the lineup, Green will be at second base in the Giants' series finale against Cincinnati. Green is 10-for-39 with a home run in the month of July.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Rehab moved to Double-A

Hernandez (ribs) will have his rehab moved to Double-A Tulsa on Wednesday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

He has logged two rehab games in the Arizona League and two rehab games in the California League and has now been transferred to a more challenging environment. There still isn't a specific timetable for his return, but an early-August activation seems likely at this point. Upon his activation he will return to a part-time role with the Dodgers.

  • Padres' Yangervis Solarte: Placed on Family Leave List

The Padres placed Solarte on the Family Leave List on Wednesday.

It's not clear how long Solarte will be away from the team, but he will be gone for at least three days, and possibly up to seven. Alexi Amarista was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to take Solarte's place on the roster.

  • Dilson Herrera 2B | CIN

Mets' Dilson Herrera: Could be recalled Wednesday

Herrera, who was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with Triple-A Las Vegas, could be recalled by the Mets after Jose Reyes suffered an intercostal strain during the doubleheader against the Cardinals, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.

The 22-year-old second baseman is hitting .277/.331/.471 with 13 home runs in 346 at-bats in the Pacific Coast League. He would offer some short-term infield depth for the Mets if they choose to recall him Wednesday. It's not a lock that Herrera would see steady playing time in the short term, as he is strictly a second baseman and the Mets have seemed unwilling to try Neil Walker at third base.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Begins rehab assignment Tuesday

Hernandez (ribs) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.

A bout of left rib cage inflammation cost Hernandez nearly a month, but he's ready to return to action with the Dodgers' High-A affiliate, putting him on track for an early-August return to the big club. He will man center field in his first rehab game -- he made just four appearances there before hitting the DL (zero starts). Hernandez has played primarily in left field this season.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Pirates' Adam Frazier: Cracks starting lineup Tuesday

Frazier will get the start at second base and hit seventh for the Pirates on Tuesday.

Frazier, who has played 21 games with the Pirates, is making the most of his opportunity, hitting .359/.405/.590 in 39 at-bats. Frazier and the Pirates will host Felix Hernandez and the Mariners on Tuesday. If the 24-year-old can continue his success that has carried over from the minors, he could be a mainstay and get more starts for the Pirates as the season progresses.
