Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Back with Cards
The Cardinals recalled Saggese from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Lands on IL
The Cardinals placed Gorman on the 10-day injured list Saturday with lower-back pain, retroactive to Friday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Gorman's back began bothering him right before the All-Star break. After getting the week to rest, the 25-year-old was still unable to return to the starting nine Friday and will now remain out until at least July 28. Thomas Saggese will return to St. Louis to fill the open roster spot and may take over as the Cardinals' primary second baseman.

Reds' Matt McLain: Two XBH in win
McLain went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-4 win over the Mets.
McLain launched a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give Cincinnati the lead and later doubled and scored in the seventh. Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Starts first game back
Alexander started at second base and went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Friday's 7-3 win over the Cardinals.
Alexander started the first game back from the All-Star break, while primary second baseman Ketel Marte was placed on the restricted list to deal with a burglary at his home in Phoenix. It's unclear how much time Marte will require, and manager Torey Lovullo referred to the absence as "a day-to-day situation," per Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. Alexander has hit safely in three consecutive games, going 4-for-12 with three doubles and two RBI.

Albies went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI during Friday's 7-3 win over the Yankees.

The 28-year-old's four RBI are the most he's had in a game this season, and he is now up to 33 RBI and eight homers through 96 games. Despite that, Albies is still largely struggling at the plate this season, slashing just .221/.290/.324, on pace to be the worst numbers of his nine-year career across the board.

Diamondbacks' Sergio Alcantara: Signs with D-backs
Alcantara signed a one-year major-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Alcantara elected free agency after being DFA'd by the Giants last week, and he'll now find work as bench depth for the D-backs. He'll fill the roster opening created by Ketel Marte's (personal) move to the restricted list, though it will still be hard for him to find at-bats with the big club.
