  • Reds' Jonathan India: Takes seat Sunday

India is on the bench for Sunday's game against the Marlins, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The rookie gets a rare day off after hitting .262 with three doubles, three home runs and eight RBI in his last 10 games. Jose Barrero is playing second base and batting seventh Sunday.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | KC

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Gets day off Saturday

Rojas is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

Another multi-hit effort Friday has Rojas hitting .548 with six extra-base hits and seven RBI in his last eight games. Drew Ellis is playing second base and batting eighth Saturday.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Beginning rehab Sunday

Hoerner (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A South Bend on Sunday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

The infielder is expected to progress to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, which would line him up for an activation around the middle of next week. An oblique strain sent Hoerner to the injured list July 29, but he appears to be nearing his return to the Cubs' lineup.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Slugs sixth homer

Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a walk in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Marte connected on the only homer of the night for Arizona in the fourth inning, drilling a 402-foot shot to right field. The long ball was only the second in his past 33 contests in what has been another season of limited power following Marte's 32-homer season in 2019. The lack of long balls and significant missed time due to injury have limited Marte's fantasy appeal this season despite a standout .342 batting average.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Padres' Adam Frazier: On bench against southpaw

Frazier isn't starting Friday's game against the Phillies.

Frazier went 0-for-8 with a walk in his last two appearances, and he'll rest with left-hander Matt Moore starting for Philadelphia. Ha-Seong Kim will take over at the keystone and bat eighth.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Rehab games coming soon

Hoerner (oblique) will continue workouts through the weekend with the intention of beginning a rehab assignment early next week, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Hoerner has been out since late July with an oblique strain. It's not clear exactly how long his rehab assignment will be, and the rebuilding Cubs have no need to rush him back, but it looks as though he could return as soon as late next week if all goes well.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Doubles, scores twice in win

India went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Marlins.

India scored in the fourth inning on Joey Votto's home run and doubled off Bryan Mitchell in the seventh, driving in Aristides Aquino. He scored later in the inning on a Nick Castellanos single. India has four multi-hit games over his last eight contests, but he was hitless in the other four. The 24-year-old is slashing .280/.393/.470 with 16 long balls, 56 RBI, 75 runs and eight steals in 467 plate appearances.

  • Isan Diaz 2B | DET

Marlins' Isan Diaz: Scores three times Wednesday

Diaz went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs Wednesday in Miami's 11-9 loss to Atlanta.

Diaz has largely looked lost at the plate in 2021 for Miami, but he's currently in the midst of his most productive stretch of the season. He's recorded at least one hit in each of his last nine starts, going 12-for-34 (.353 average) with a home run, a stolen base, 10 runs and two RBI. Diaz doesn't have a clear path to an everyday lineup spot at the moment, but expect the Marlins to stagger days off for Jazz Chisholm and Brian Anderson to help give Diaz at least a handful of starts per week while he's swinging a hot bat.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Retreats to bench

Marte isn't starting Thursday's game against the Phillies.

Marte had drawn starts in each of the last nine games, but he'll get a breather after he went 2-for-11 with a triple, a run and an RBI across his last three appearances. Daulton Varsho will start in center field and bat fifth.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: On bench Wednesday

Rodgers isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Rodgers started each of the last five games and went 6-for-21 with a double, two runs, an RBI and a walk. Alan Trejo will take his place at the keystone and bat seventh.
