Blue Jays' Cavan Biggio: Posts incredible performance

Biggio went 4-for-5, hitting for the cycle with four RBI, three runs and two steals in an 8-5 victory against the Orioles on Tuesday.

What an incredible game from Biggio. It was his fourth multi-hit performance in his last five games, but he also went deep and swiped two bases. This was also his first game with multiple RBI since Aug. 31. Biggio is now batting .230 with 14 home runs, 42 RBI, 58 runs and 13 steals in 313 at-bats this season.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Hits another homer

Torres went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and two runs in an 8-0 victory against the Angels on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old has displayed a ton of power all season long, but he already has five homers in September after hitting 13 in August. In fact, half of his home runs this season have come since July 24. Torres is batting .285 with 38 home runs, 90 RBI, 96 runs and five steals in 522 at-bats this season.

  • Luis Rengifo 3B | MIL

Angels' Luis Rengifo: May not return this year

X-rays on Rengifo's left hand were negative but it's unclear if he will be able to return before the end of the season, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

He will have a CT scan Wednesday to determine if the injury is severe, so apparently the negative returns on the X-rays may not mean much. Matt Thaiss and Taylor Ward could play more while Rengifo is out and David Fletcher should play almost every day at second base.

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Suffers hand injury

Rengifo left Tuesday's game against the Yankees with a left hand injury and will undergo an X-ray.

He left in the middle of an at-bat in the seventh inning and apparently suffered the injury on his final swing. Rengifo went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before exiting and was replaced by Matt Thaiss.

Angels' Luis Rengifo: Exits Tuesday with injury

Rengifo left Tuesday's game against the Yankees in the middle of an at-bat in the seventh inning with an apparent injury, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.

He hurt himself on a swing and it was obviously serious enough that he needed to leave immediately. Rengifo was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before leaving.

  • Royals' Whit Merrifield: Crosses home three times

Merrifield went 2-for-5 with three runs Monday in the Royals' 6-5 win over the Athletics.

Merrifield hasn't been running much lately -- he has three steals in five attempts since Aug. 1 -- but he's maintained his high-contact ways throughout the campaign and is on track for a second straight season with an average above .300. The 30-year-old has banged out two hits in each of his last three games and has accrued a .371/.391/.516 slash line thus far in September.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Big game against Royals

Semien went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, two runs and two RBI in the Athletics' 6-5 loss to the Royals on Monday.

Semien continues to swing a hot bat, with this latest multi-hit effort extending his current hitting streak to seven games. He cranked his 31st long ball of the season in this contest, touching up Glenn Sparkman with a second-inning, two-run shot. The 28-year-old continues to enjoy a career year at the dish, with this bringing his slash line up to a healthy .284/.365/.519 in 151 games.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Drives in two runs

Arraez went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Arraez singled three times Monday, including a two-run base hit in the sixth inning to give Minnesota a 5-2 lead. The rookie utilityman has been red-hot in September, going 23-for-54 (.426 average) with 10 runs scored.

  • Tigers' Harold Castro: Sits out Monday

Castro is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Jordy Mercer will fill in at second base while Castro rests after turning in a productive first half of September. Over his 11 starts this month, Castro has delivered multiple hits in eight of those contests, including each of his last five games. Castro's .305 average this season leads all Tigers hitters.

  • Marcus Semien 2B | NYM

Athletics' Marcus Semien: Reaches 30 homers

Semien went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Sunday in the Athletics' 6-1 win over the Rangers.

Semien reached the 30-homer plateau Sunday, joining Matt Chapman (34) and Matt Olson (34) to become the first trio to achieve the feat for the organization since 2001. The shortstop has already established career bests in home runs, doubles, triples, runs and RBI and should continue to supply useful counting stats the rest of the way with Oakland unlikely to rest him as it fights with Cleveland and Tampa Bay for the two available American League wild-card spots.
